The lights dim in the massive 2000-seat venue. A huge drum beats the beginning of ancient time in this enchanted kingdom called Siam. Hold on, you are about to experience one of the most amazing shows on the planet. The massive sets, high-tech lighting, costumes and hundreds of dancers and elephants rival any show in Las Vegas or New York.
Getting to Siam Niramit is easy. We took public transportation on the sleek underground Metro system to the Thailand Cultural Center Station and then were conveniently shuttled by van to the Siam Niramit grounds, just a short 10-minute drive.
Once inside the grounds you can you walk thru a miniature Thai village and see replicas of Thai-style houses from the four regions of Thailand. Each village showcases its own specialties, such as Isan music, local fabrics and textiles.
After your walk you can relax and enjoy an extensive and tasty selection of Thai and international entrees in the Sawasdee restaurant. Then it’s off across the complex to the main theater.
Once inside the theater, you are impressed by the massive size of 2,000, plush-red reclining seats. The performance is eighty minutes, and depicts the historical and spiritual heritage of Thailand. The first act shows how Siam's civilization was formed by trade merchants from other countries sailing to the southern ports of the country. The second segment highlights the influence of Karma on daily Thai life, and the last part describes how a religious and spiritual dedication earns merit in a Thai’s daily life.
The stage sets are incredible; the actors flying on high wire are amazing, and the costumes as rich and colorful as the Thai culture. Best of all, the special effects using state-of-the-art technology make this beyond a doubt the "Must-See” show in Bangkok.
Agneta Bekassy – Swedish – This was a most amazing and enjoyable show. Where else in the world would you see elephants on stage and such an incredible product of beautiful sets, costumes, dancers, music, and high-tech lighting. I’ve never seen anything quite like this. I will tell all my friends in Sweden to see the show when they come to Bangkok.
Gift Kanokwan – Thai A tourist's delight for a firsthand account of the ancient Thai culture of Siam when people had a simple lifestyle and thrived in simple pleasures of life, untouched by the nuances of hypocrisy, cheating and were unadulterated from the corruption of the urban world. I was exhilarated to see the performances of martial arts and Thai boxing as it existed in those times when I was still a toddler and I would welcome all my friends from across the globe to come and experiences the true culture of Thailand. I am proud to be a Thai and this show just reinforced my pride in my heritage.
