Fashion Illustrator Pippa McManus showcased her ‘With Flowers In Their Hair’ exhibition on William Street in Perth, Australia. Located in the heart of Perth the exhibition was lively and wildly entertaining with colorful artwork aligning every wall. Exclusive Christmas illustrations were also available for purchase at the event detailing a fashion forward Christmas themed sketch that made for fashionable Christmas cards.
The renowned artists artwork was the face of Perth Fashion Festival this season - a fashion week in Perth dedicated to up and coming Perth designers with undeniable talent. McManus began studying Fine Arts at the Western Australian School of Art and Design in 2000, and then crossed over to the school’s three-year Fashion and Textile Design course. While there, she was given the opportunity to participate in various design competitions around Australia, such as the WA Smales Fashion Design Awards, a part of the annual Perth Fashion Festival.
The fashion illustrator most commonly takes real life photography and completes the photo by hand, adapting the pictures into amazing artwork. Her work is absolutely astounding. McManus has collaborated with Perth Costume Designer Leon Krasenstein as ‘Leon VS Pippa’ in which they were invited to be a part of a show hosted in Los Angeles at the Scion Gallery in 2007. In 2008 McManus traveled to New York to assist Aurelio Costarella and his team for New York Fashion Week in which McManus illustrated the invites for the show. McManus then created artwork illustrations based on a behind the scenes look of the show featuring backstage imagery, which was turned into an exhibition at the end of 2009. This is just a few highlights of the featured work in which the artist has accomplished over the past few years.
Here is a sneak peek to the art exhibition ‘With Flowers In Their Hair’ which took place in downtown Perth. Only VIP guests and fashion connoisseurs were invited to look at Pippa McManus’ fashion exhibition to view the images on display. Guests were able to purchase their favorite piece out of the collection. The collection included artwork featured in Perth Fashion Festival, behind the scenes images from local runways and photo shoots from Perth. The pieces were all incredibly vibrant and colorful for home décor that were perfect for any home office or bedroom – perfect to liven any space in the home.
Pippa McManus is on my radar and I look forward to watching all of her future endeavors.
