Perfectly placed on the white sand beaches of the royal retreat town Hua Hin, this is your escape and anti-dote to civilization!
Here you are pampered the minute you walk into the impressive lobby by the friendly Thai staff.
I usually prefer smaller more intimate properties but this resort is the exception. You have the feeling, because of the layout and design, of quiet openness with a choice a beautiful pool, jacuzzi, or the beach and 6 restaurants all without having to leave the property.
There are several types of rooms to select from. The luxurious Premier Room, Pool Villa or the ultimate stay in La Residence, a two-story colonial residence beachfront with two bedrooms and eternity pool viewing the beach.
If it’s action you want you can rent a horse on the beach for a splash through the waves or gentle ride with the kids. Speaking of horses, every April there is an exciting charity beach polo event held at the resort.
Also jet & water skiing are availabe from the beach. For golfers there are a number of excellent choices, close by is the Springfield Royal Country Club with the course designed by Jack Nicklaus.
Perhaps you’d like to just take it easy by the pool, enjoy a refreshing cocktail at the swim-up pool bar or Azure poolside restaurant.
The Spa - To truly enhance your stay at the resort you should treat yourself to a visit. They offer signatures treatments that are unique.
Thai Combining authentic Thai techniques with the therapeutic benefits of oils and herbal compresses and organic ingredients. Also featured is PEDI-MANI-CURE Studio by Bastien Gonzales. This is a very unique and special offer only at this resort by M. Alexandre Lutun from France. A guest said that after the hour treatment she felt like she was "walking on clouds."
I had the pleasure to meet Benjamin Schwarz, the Resort Manager, and asked him some questions about the resort and historic Hua Hin.
SPLASH - What makes Hua Hin different from other beach destination in Thailand? Hua Hin is full of prestigious memories.. It is a vacation home of Thai royal families and discerning Thais until today. From this, the town and beach are well-kept to honor Hua Hin as Thailand's Royal Heritage. You will experience serenity, tranquillity, and a sense of classic charms in Hua Hin.
SPLASH - How would you describe the Intercontinental Hua Hin and what makes it unique from other properties? InterContinental Hua Hin is truly a luxurious escape with the charms of Thailand's royal heritage. The resort's outstanding essence is the classic elegance touch which guests can experience through elegant room design and comfort inspired by King Rama VI's Summer Palace. On top of this, it is situated right in front of Hua Hin's loveliest long stretch beach, where nice powdery sand awaits our guests.
SPLASH -The grounds are extremely well designed including the beautiful pool that flows out to the gulf. Who was the Hawaiian designer and how did selecting him come about?
The famous designer Bert Collins is the one who created the resort's centerpiece. With his design, it marks sophistication in our pool, completed with a fiber-optic system creating twinkling starlight effect a night.. truly gorgeous both day and night in the eyes of our guests.
SPLASH -Guest are always interested in cuisine, what does the resort offer and do you have a special chef you'd like to mention?
My favourite is our beach-side restaurant Azure, which offers a relaxing view of the Gulf of Thailand in combination with tasty food and great drinks.
Our signature 'Chill & Grill Chandon Brunch' every Sunday should also not be missed. Besides Azure, we have our Thai restaurant Pirom that will make your taste buds experience the herbs and spices of the Thai kitchen and Felicita where lovers of the Italian cuisine can satisfy their appetite. Our Resort's Executive Chef "Patrick Fournes" can cater to our guests' culinary wishes with his international experience and creativity.
SPLASH - The Thai's are know for their hospitality but Intercontinental seems exceptionally welcoming to guests. You mentioned you look forward to coming to work everyday. Can you give us your impressions of management and how that is passed on thru the staff to the guests?
It's quite simple - we all follow the same attitude, that is having a passion in what we do. From this, we simply deliver our love to the guests.
I'd like to personally thank Teresa Sihanatkathakul, Marketing Communications Manager, Benjamin Schwarz, Resort Manager, and the entire staff who made our visit to the resort so exceptonal!
