History is written all over this hotel. Charm and comfort embrace you as soon as you walk in. Hospitality as if it came from the South greets you at every step you take. The Victorian Hotel truly takes you back to the early 1900s when the Klondike Gold Rush was happening and people would make frequent stops in Vancouver with their new found gold. The building's approach is easy while you walk up a small staircase to get inside the main lobby.
The exterior is antique and looks like it’s been barely touched by modern times. Some of the things inside have remained untouched ever since the hotel was built in 1898 including sinks, radiators and interior mouldings. They have been restored a bit but still hold their charm. You can almost imagine sitting there in your room and transporting right back to 1898 when Vancouver was the hot spot for ship stops and resting. I
t’s even said that the Queen of the Yukon and one of the most famous entertainers, Kitty Rockwell, had stayed in the hotel and found out some terrible news while she was there. Her longtime lover betrayed and left her for another girl while she was staying at The Victorian. So this actually might be a good place to go and escape your modern day relationship drama. If the staff was half as good as they are now then you’ll be sure to leave happy and rejuvenated. Each member is cultured and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and knows all the great places to eat and see. The maid service is on point and every morning you get a hot continental breakfast served till 9am.
After breakfast it’s always a good idea to go and see the city and from the hotel everything is 2 or 3 blocks away. You’re in the heart of downtown and across from Gastown, Yaletown, and the Robson Shopping District. Rogers Arena and BC Place Stadium are walking distance in case you want to catch a concert or game. The mountains greet you from a few blocks away and The Pacific Center shopping mall is right around the corner as well as tons of hip restaurants and cafes. The area is safe at night and there’s always people walking around since other hotels are right across and around the corner. A popular way to see the city is bicycling and The Victorian Hotel is less than a block from one of the city's main bicycle routes, providing a safe continuous path for visitors to explore a variety of Vancouver's neighbourhoods. The Victorian hotel is located on 514 Homer Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada V6B 2V6. For more information you can call them at 604.681.6369 or Toll Free 1.877.681.6369.
