Hauser Hotel - The St. Moritz It Destination

After arriving in Zurich, me and one of my best friends and colleagues, took her brothers' convertible and drove down to St. Moritz for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship 2017.

The weather was amazing, sunny and warm regardless of the snow on the sides of the main road. Getting closer to St. Moritz, we had to drive through all those amazing small Swiss villages, that were so picturesque that make us think they came out of a fairy tail. We were going to stay at the most central and cozy hotel in the village - Hauser Hotel, a favorite hotel in St. Moritz amongst both locals and well traveled visitors from all around the globe.

The Hauser hotel dates back to 1892. It is a family hotel in its fourth generation with a passion of genuine hospitality. Mrs & Mr Hauser, a beautiful couple full of energy and charm, welcomed us during our stay. They guided us through anything that we encountered with absolute elegance and warmth. There, we enjoyed the delicious cuisine at the restaurant, which was simple and totally ready to suit our every taste, the tasty cocktails at the popular RooBar and the sweet deserts at the first class confectionary that is located exactly next to the restaurant.

Over the last two years the owners have carefully renovated 51 rooms. Those rooms have been on the one hand stripped back to the essentials, focussing on functionality, and on the other hand made deliciously cosy thanks to the use of native moon wood. Their moonwood comes from S-chanf and is native pine and larch that has been felled during a waning moon. This stems from a local tradition steeped in history. Moonwood is more stable, more durable and more resistant. As soon as someone enters the rooms, he or she is immersed in the cosy atmosphere and breathe in the exquisite scent. After the renovation the rooms were totally modern, practical, very comfortable and nicely decorated, incorporating influences of Scandinavian design.

At the restaurant, you get spoiled with selected culinary specialities – lovingly prepared throughout the day. We started off with a delicious breakfast of fresh pastries from our bakery or a leisurely brunch at the Hauser.
At lunchtime we tried salads, soups, toast, regional dishes like the amazing salmon with the baked potatoes, snacks and much more from the varied Hauser menu.
In the afternoon, coffee and cakes were on the menu – fresh from the confectionery.

Please allow me to mention that their bar, the RooBar is the trendiest apres-ski place in the heart of St. Moritz. What is more, during the period of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championship the Hauser family, in close cooperation with its friendly neighbours, created a pop-up bar, "The Cow Bar", which was an even bigger hit!

The owners of the Hauser hotel see themselves as modern hosts and this is exactly what they are. Meaning, that they not only have their guests’ satisfaction in mind, but they also attach great importance to operating the business in an environmentally and socially sustainable manner. From the moonwood in the hotel rooms to the food they offer, they pay close attention to the quality and source of each product and, whenever possible, they purchase locally according to the season. In this regard, they have introduced the Etichetta Hauser. This label appears on the menu to denote the offerings that meet their high demands in terms of origin, quality, fair trade and ecology.

At St. Moritz, during the winter months you will discover an infinite number of magnificent ski slopes in the Engadine, while the summertime offers a vast range of hiking trails and bike trails. A wealth of unique activities and events are organised throughout the year by the Hauser hotel and not only. The think is Mr & Ms Hauser are gladly there to give you any tips and recommendations to make your stay with us unique!

A must go destination ....
