A Jewel In The Island Of Santorini: Homeric Poems Hotel Review

A dream coming true! One of the most beautiful hotels in the world!

Homeric Poems is situated on a cliff on the Caldera of the majestic island of Santorini. A five star property of 20 Cave houses in pastel shades inside, built on the rock, each with stunning views of the Caldera facing the volcano and the deep blue Aegean sea.

The apartments, each one named after a Homeric character, from our great Ancient Greek poet, Homer. They are tastefully decorated with antiques and handmade furniture, a built in double bed, large living room area with sofas, dining table and small kitchenette. The biggest highlight is the unique view you can enjoy from the large furnished private terraces.

My favorite is the Captain’s House. An old captain's house renovated to perfection in 1998, giving its place to three two storey suites. White marble floors, original handmade furniture, antiques from the owner's collection, marble bathrooms and excellent Cycladic architecture make these three suites unique in style, beauty, luxury and comfort. They share a very large pebble stone mosaic terrace separated with flower beds with a big extension with sun beds.

The Caldera view is magnificent from every spot of it. Each suite can accommodate 3 to 5 persons and is around 50 to 70 square meters.

The other suites at Homeric Poems include the first and foremost the Honeymoon suites that have big panoramic windows. These are Eros, Achilles & Aiolos.

-‘EROS’ Honeymoon Suite:  It has traditional furniture, bedroom with matrimonial bed and original brass ship's windows, and a very large bathroom with a Jacuzzi.

The main feature of this beautiful room is the view from the bedroom. It can accommodate 2 persons and is around 35 square meters.

-‘ACHILLES’ Honeymoon Suite: It has a private balcony opening out from the bedroom, fully equipped kitchenette and living area with a spacious sofa. It can accommodate 2 persons and is around 45 square meters.

-‘AIOLOS’ Honeymoon Suite: It is also private and modern with living room and master bedroom, large terrace with panoramic view. It can accommodate 2 persons and is around 30 square meters.

Moreover, in Homeric Poems, there are the Grand Suites: 3 Grand Suites, each one occupies an area of approximately 100 square meters, with spacious terraces and large private pools.

The interior consists of a large living room equipped with B&O sound and visual system, dining area all complimented with numerous large windows offering breathtaking views of the Aegean.  The bedroom leads on to a private terrace and has a king size bed, with large marble Jacuzzi.

It can accommodate 2 persons and is around 100 square meters.

Waking up in the morning and facing nothing else but the volcano and the bluish Aegean sea, you can have your breakfast served in the room or on the balcony, without a time limit, a la carte. If it’s noon or afternoon, lunch or dinner are also served in the room or the balcony. The hotel offers an ISO 9001 certified kitchen and the famous awarded chef Mr. Dimitris Skarmoutsos is editing the menu.

The Homeric Poem guests can feel even more relaxed by choosing between a variety of alternative therapies such as full body relaxing massage, back & shoulders massage, head massage and foot massage, in the privacy of their room. They can also have hair care or manicure/pedicure services.

The hotel is so well equipped and pepared that has a close cooperation with professionals that can teach and entertain you as far as Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Sailing, Cruises around the Caldera or the near islands and a Wine Tasting Tour are concerned!

On the other hand, if you choose to have a wedding there, Homeric Poems are dedicated to making it as unforgettable as it deserves to be, regardless of whether it's just the two of you or if you have a party of friends and relatives. You can choose between a ceremony during the day or wait until sunset for a romantic, atmospheric celebration. The hotels' Wedding Coordinator will ensure your day runs smoothly, so you can celebrate with a bottle of champagne and a wedding cake, you can have a wedding bouquet for the bride and for the groom, a boutonniere. Flowers will decorate the pool to commemorate your wedding. What is more, a very specialized photographer will take sixty pictures and these will be presented in an album and on DVD for you to share with your loved ones. Last but not least, the marriage license and all certificates will be supplied at no time.

After enjoying your time in the Homeric Poems hotel, you can have a look at the local attractions which include Akrotiri Excavations, a visit of the archaeological site of Akrotiri, the old community which was destroyed by an eruption 1500 years B.C.. A Wine Tasting Tour, where you can visit and wine taste on some of the most popular wineries, boat trips to Volcano and Hot Sprigs, ancient Thira excavations visit. Last but not least, Oia, the western part of the island and the most popular Sunset), Pyrgos Village (Kastelli- The Highest Village in Santorini and the Prehistorical Museum in Fira.

The jewel of Santorini, the Homeric Poems hotel, that is ...

The hotel is situated in Firostefani on the Caldera, 1 km from the Town centre of Fira and 7 Km from the airport. The distance from Athinios (Port of Santorini Island) is 10 km.
