Virgin Atlantic opens a special wing at London Heathrow on November 2, 2007 for its business class flyers and Flying Club Gold members. The Upper Class Wing promises the world’s fastest check-in with an incredible 10 minutes from the curb, through security and on into the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse.
Airport check-in lines have made traveling by air more and more of a drudge. The lines that herd humans like sheep in pens are making passengers with the means to fly privately willing to pay the price simply to avoid the misery of the security purgatory. Airlines are responding my providing their premium flyers with services to streamline the process and make commercial flying more streamlined and appealing .
At Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class Wing, the welcome begins as passengers are driven up to the arrival area and are welcomed by an airline host. There, check-in formalities are handled before passengers walk through the new lobby to the dedicated security checkpoint. This checkpoint is solely for the use of Virgin Atlantic Upper Class customers. Passing quickly through, the passengers emerge near the Virgin lounge, recently voted the world’s best business class lounge.
Upgrades are underway to speed up check in for Premium Economy and Economy passengers as well, which should be in place by the end of the year.
