NAB 2015 Speaker and Session Review - A Sneak Peek Into The Future of Technology at NAB 2015


The National Association of Broadcasters Conference, known as the first chance for the public and the pros to get hands on with newest and finest cameras, flat screens, computers, editing and broadcast solutions, has also scored some of the biggest names in the Entertainment Industry as well as leading newsmakers in all aspects of communications.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler, who opens Wednesday’s session, will be followed by Cyber Security experts like General Raymond P. Palumbo and  keynote speaker John McAfee (founder of McAfee Inc)  for Super Session “Protecting our Assets: Cybersecurity and the Media”. It will focus on the issues that make organizations vulnerable to attack – whether they are military, government, or commercial, like a movie studio (Sony) or an insurance company like Blue Cross .

General Raymond P Palumbo

Jerry Lewis, renowned entertainer and humanitarian, will receive the NAB Distinguished Service Award (DSA) during the 2015 NAB Show.

Lewis will accept the award at the opening keynote session, sponsored by Blackmagic Design, on April 13th.

Shonda Rimes

Two extremely successful TV franchises Walking Dead and Scandal will star in The Television Luncheon Monday, April 13th.  The Television Luncheon will include the induction of Shonda Rhimes, creator of the hit series Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, to the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame as well as an appearance of Scandal star Scott Foley, Walking Dead star Steven Yeun and Walking Dead comic book creator and series executive producer Robert Kirkman

Speaking of security, NAB’s session on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles: Myths & Realities , promises to answer questions on how to creatively and safely use drones.  Special guests will include Dean Griffith legal counsel for the FAA.

Adobe premieres their next update to the Creative Cloud featuring a number of revolutionary features including the Lumetri Color Panel for Premiere Pro.

Adobe will also showcase upgrades in speed and function in After Effects CC, Adobe Media Encoder CC and Audition CC.  There will also be previews of coming attractions including Adobe Character Animator a technology first revealed as Project Animal at Adobe Max.

Other highlights not to be missed for techies include Autodesk’s 2016 reveal,  NHK trotting out  8k Super Vision and NPR Labs talking about making your mobile Lte data work better.   OWC, Apple enthusiasts favorite drive store, shows off  their biggest and fastest storage solution ever, a 6 gig solid state drive designed to work with Black Magic’s 4k cameras.   As part of this year's Creative Master’s Series, award winning cinematographers Tom Stern ASC (American Sniper) and Robert Yeoman ASC (Budapest Hotel) will be featured.
