Come into Olga's
|
I learned about
Olga’s Day Spa unexpectedly.
Tom Schulz, a “fixer upper” genius was installing new toilets in my home and when I said I was going to get a facial, he said, “You must go to
Olga’s Day Spa. She is the best”. Tom, it turns out, is responsible for remodeling and maintaining
Olga’s Day Spa. His assessment is right on target as I found out.

Looking at Olga’s website, I learned the spa is: “Rated as one of the Nation's Top 10 day spa's across the country by USA Today. Olga's Skin Care Apothecary and Day Spa has been in Highland Park since 1980. Starting off as a skin care salon, Olga Nisenboim followed her dream in making Olga's a full service Day Spa. Rated by USA Today as one of the leading day spas in the nation, Olga's extensive list of services offers any customer soothing relaxation. Chicago Tribune also recently visited Olga's Day Spa only to praise their spiritual healing and guidance using many unique treatments to feel rejuvenated.”

When I asked my friend Judy who lives quite near
Olga’s Day Spa if she knew about it, she said she passes it and sees women having nails done but she wasn’t sure what else they did. Judy was interested in finding out about the manicures and pedicures, wanting to see how Olga’s compared to other experiences. The experience of a full body massage and facial was what interested me. After our “Olga experience”, both of us were delighted.

Toma massages Judy's hands
|
Following her manicure- pedicure, Judy shared her thoughts with me. She found the staff to be very nice and friendly, and put her at ease. She was very appreciative of the thorough and careful treatment given her by Toma. She felt that Toma took her time and Judy never felt rushed. Judy thoroughly enjoyed the foot-leg massage that was part of the pedicure.

|
Toma is especially exacting with the pedicures and manicures she gives
|
The manicure was very good and you can see the terrific color she chose. Again, the hand and arm massage was wonderful. She said that she enjoyed it very much and plans to return.

How can I say enough about my massage? My biggest problem with it is that it - ended. Anna, my therapist, absolutely has magic hands, strong and sensitive. And I don’t know how she knew which part of me to put back together but as I lay there enjoying grapefruit aromatherapy and calming music she put my body into better “working order”. After my deep muscle massage therapy, which was an experience so satisfying and healing, it is hard to describe, and I left minus my aches and pains and with increased energy. And this has lasted for day. It is as though she reconfigured me for better function.

Anna's "magic hands" felt wonderful

I returned to
Olga’s Day Spa a week later and learned the secret of putting a smile on my face. I had a facial with Kathy. When I departed for the real world, outside of the spa, my face so happy, nourished and relaxed that I could not help but smile.
 |
|
Kathy can make your face look and feel younger
|
Kathy combines personal experience, (growing up watching her mother treat people in her own spa in Poland) with “state of the art” techniques. Steam hydrated my skin and cleared my sinuses. An oatmeal mask removed impurities from my face; rich cream nourished my dry skin. My hands and arms were not ignored. My hands were treated with warmed mittens and later massaged along with the lower part of my arms. In addition, Kathy’s hands massaging the back of my neck and shoulders sent me on my way standing straighter. Experiencing this treatment is so healing, I cannot recommend highly enough.

These items are lovely and nicely priced
|
Olga has managed to create room after room for more kinds of treatments than you can imagine. In addition, she sells a private skin care line, gifts, jewelry and more in a small attractively arranged space. The wide variety of items to be found there are appealing and reasonably priced. She offers seven spa packages and a menu of services that covers two pages and every part of your body.

Olga invites you to tour her spa and you will love it

She also has periodic programs featuring experts in areas as wide ranging as finance and nutrition. A recent free lecture sponsored by Olga’s Day Spa was so successful that the “
Highland Park Shoppers Guide” referred to it in glowing terms. (www.downtownhp.com)
