Newly opened in Highland Park, the spacious spa (2100 square feet), at Suite #8, 1480 Old Deerfield Road, takes the old time hydrating and tanning equation and stands it on its head, creating the ultimate in safely-gorgeous skin. Owner Sara Rosenbaum says, “I really believe in the hydration station technology; and services that go beyond the traditional indoor tanning salon. 2008 tanning has never been so healthy, so easy, so safe and appealing, and it was my goal to bring that to fruition.” To that end she devoted herself to lengthy research before opening the new venture.

The
Chill TanSpa Difference lies in its creation of six C's: Customization; Care; Caution; Control; Cleanliness, and Color. Customization refers to the program designed exactly for you alone; individual skin analysis is extensive and thorough. Care and caution are givens, reflecting superbly controlled treatment at the hands of experienced, trained and educated professionals. When using the up-to-the-minute tanning equipment, sensible, moderate and responsible exposure to ultraviolet radiation is the rule. Another rule at the spa is cleanliness: each room is immaculately spotless and sanitized, without sacrificing the charm of its surroundings. And color? That's the happy end result, if you choose it.

But, let's begin at the beginning.
Chill TanSpa is the only one of its kind in Illinois to feature three Hydration Stations. Consider step one. You enter a comfy room and lie down in a plush futuristic-looking bed/ console; (don't worry if you're claustrophobic; your head is out). Now you experience a pre-set combination of steam, radiant heat, vibratory massage, aromatherapy, with an i-pod encouraging further pleasure and relaxation. Luxuriate and zone out for 20 minutes (or, if you're not tanning, 30 minutes if you choose). Now your skin is primed and prepared for tanning.

Of course, you may choose not to tan; in that case, having enjoyed your Hydration Station experience, you may go on your way, feeling soothed and relaxed. But let's say you wish to achieve the ultimate tan. Step two is to slip into your snowy, spotless robe and slippers and choose from two options:
Option 1- Enter an impeccable room where you'll find a tanning bed carefully selected for your specific skin needs and your own pre-set program offering the UV level customized for your specific health and beauty. The Hydration Station has facilitated spending less time exposed to the UV rays, and the tanning level is, as noted, exactly chosen for each client. There are seven tanning rooms with three different levels of tanning at Chill TanSpa and each is carefully, safely and perfectly set up for maximum results. Sessions range from $10-$20.

Or: Option 2 – Enter the Spray Tanning Room, where your tanning professional will blend colors for every skin type and give you the exact shade you wish. This is not the “turning orange” experience, you've heard about elsewhere or perhaps have experienced yourself. This is customized color devised by one of the creators of spray tanning: Fantasy Tan, and applied to your already conditioned skin.
The Fantasy Tan fades slowly and is of course completely safe, derived from plant sources; it is an option for men and women who may not wish to experience the tanning bed solution. Whatever your choice, a welcome pleasure throughout Chill TanSpa is the customization of packages for all customers, so they can maximize all of the services offered.
Among those services, a popular one focuses on eyelash extensions, available as both an initial beauty treat and follow-up sessions. Xtreme Lashes eyelash extensions are used; each lash is professionally applied. Lash sessions begin at $175 for a full set of up to 50 lashes, with a range of options at each price level, depending on the number of lashes applied. Follow-up “fill” sessions are based on how many lashes are applied, and are recommended every three to four weeks.

Chill TanSpa is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM, Saturday from 9 AM to 6 PM. On Sundays, the spa is open by special appointment for private parties and celebrations. One in-demand option is the pre-wedding party. Notes Sara, “We find women love to arrange parties here; it's luxurious, and relaxing, and of course there is free parking. Men, too, have told us they enjoy coming here for the privacy and accessible location; they find this the best, most relaxing way to get a tan to expedite and enhance their summer looks.
