As Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Splash Magazines Worldwide, when I find a service or hidden treasure I like to inform my readers and arm them with as much information as they need to make informed decisions and wise purchases.

Sitting on five acres in the middle of Laurel Canyon, I am fortunate to have enough land to plant a garden. As I’ve just finally begun to get my gardening area cleared, I’m at a place where I needed to purchase a Cultivator! I know it seems odd, that a publisher of a global online magazine would have a garden and still I do.

After traveling the information superhighway and performing Google research I came across Husquarna of Stockholm Sweden. After reviewing all my options, I decided to go with them as Husquarna is the largest producer of land tools, including ride on products, walk behind, handheld, watering, accessories and garden tool as well as construction products.

For those who don’t know, Cultivators are usually gasoline powered garden tools that have blades attached to the front. The operator holds the handle bars and moves the machine forward creating rows. The Cultivator blades stir the soil before planting making it loose or after the crop has begun growing, to kill the weeds, as cultivators are designed to selectively cut away at the soil, it can spare the plant and kill the weed.

Cultivators come in a variety of Small tilling equipment, used in small gardens such as household gardens and small commercial gardens, can provide both primary and secondary tillage. For example, a rotary tiller does both the "plowing" and the "harrowing", preparing a smooth, loose seedbed. It does not provide the row-wise weed control that cultivator teeth would. For that task, there are single-person-push able cultivators.

As I’m not sure to what size garden I’m creating either enough to have a few easy grow vegetables and fresh herbs, or a larger area geared toward organic development, there are agricultural cultivation tools to meet those needs.

Mini tillers are a new type of small cultivators used by farmers or homeowners. These are also known as power tillers or garden tillers. Compact, powerful and, most importantly, inexpensive, these agricultural rotary tillers are providing alternatives for the small farmers and are more economical than four-wheel tractors.
