Dubai is an oasis in the middle of a desert. Sand as far as the eye can see. But an oasis within the oasis is the Desert Palm Resort. A true resort custom made for relaxing in the luxurious lap of this escape built around the Polo lifestyle on a private Polo estate. And when one thinks of Polo, they think of the finer things in life; excitement, culture, extravagance. This is also a fit description for the exciting and abundant Vintage Brunch held each Friday from 12:30 – 4 pm.
At the Vintage Brunch in the Rare Restaurant at Desert Palm Resort you’ll find haute European cuisine with Asian Influences. Upon arrival, you can choose to sit indoors or, as we did, choose to dine al fresco overlooking the polo grounds. If you plan ahead, you can be there to watch the one of the exciting matches and experience the international jet set lifestyle that goes along with it.
Once you are ready to make you brunching plans, the first thing is to not be overwhelmed. But be warned, it won’t be easy. There are live cooking stations throughout the well set up and orchestrated feast du jour. At the meat, seafood, omelet, and pasta stations you’ll find seasoned chefs preparing fresh dishes with the best ingredients before you. You can choose the sushi and seafood buffet with a selection tasty morsels too many to mention. There is also a long line of shiny silver serving domes, each with a finely crafted dish waiting for you to open and reveal. From fish, poultry and meat, to vegetables, rice and pastas of all sorts are at your disposal.
Your brunch will include a half bottle of champagne, cocktails from the brunch menu, or a carefully selected wine pairing will be recommended based on your dining choices.
Just when you think that you’ve smelled, seen, and tasted it all and you’re wondering if your belt has an extra notch, your capable server wickedly reminds you about the dessert “room”. The brunch is so expansive that they dessert area has a room on to itself filled with chocolate fountains, fresh fruits from local and exotic lands as well as cakes, pies, and pastries of every sort. One quickly flashes back to Willie Wonka’s chocolate factory.
It was a most enjoyable way to spend a Friday. Should one choose to up the ante on relaxation, one can also enjoy a treatment at the renowned LIME Spa with its pampering pleasures. We decided to save that experience for our next visit. So after the brunch, we relaxed in the bar area for a few moments before taking the short trip back to hustle and bustle of Dubai.
