Fine Dining in Mexico Review - Cafe Des Artistes

Cafe Des Artistes

Cafe Des Artistes Patio

This was my first trip to Puerto Vallarta so when it came to finding the best restaurant in town I asked my friend Brian who takes his yacht to Puerto Vallarta each year for the winter. Immediately Brian said you must go to Café Des Artistes   Located in an old house in the center of Puerto Vallarta town, this restaurant is a wonderful mix of French and Mexican influences. This elegant restaurant has been there for 23 years and has a stunning outdoor patio dining with lush greenery running throughout it setting up a unique natural environment. Some evenings feature live music which just ads to the ambiance. Acclaimed Chef Thierry Blouet has set up an exquisite menu. My friend Rich chose a daily special Roast Chicken in a Mole Sauce which

Chicken Mole

Glazed Duck

featured both French and Mexican influences. I had the Organic Glazed Duck, both were wonderful.

Fried Soft Shell Crab

Light Pea Cream

I started with the Fried Soft Shell Crab which had many delicate flavors and was fishy without being over powering. Rich went with the very unique Light Pea Cream with Brussels Spouts which had mint emulsion and Tofu served in a glass.

Creme Brulee

For dessert I recommend the Milk Caramel Creme Brulee. Café Des Artistes has won many awards including best restaurant in Mexico 2011-2012. Make sure your next Mexico trip includes a stop in Puerto Vallarta for some fun in the sun and great dining.

Puerto Vallarta Sunsets

The only thing missing at this terrific restaurant is the wonderful nightly sunsets that all the Hotels along the beachfront feature. Chef Blouet also has another acclaimed restaurant in Punta de Mita which you can read about on their website.
