Wynwood Kitchen & Bar offers great food in an artsy gem in this local Miami spot owned by The Goldman’s. The second you walk into Wynwood Kitchen & Bar, you are awed by the murals, hand painted by well known mural and graffiti artist, Shepard Fairey who is best known for his Smithsonian Obama Hope poster. Through glass sliding doors, an outdoor patio is seen in the distance full of open grassy space and stylish tables and chairs for guests to enjoy the view. What view am I talking about? The outside of Wynwood Kitchen & Bar is a sight to see. Also known as The Wynwood Walls, this space attracts locals and tourists to its significant murals, murals that are repainted once a year during Art Basel.
As I sat down with my guest, we were greeted right away by our young server who explained the specials of the day and popular drinks. Our server suggested I to order the colorful Wynwood Salad, colorful like the ambiance of this charming restaurant. It consisted of red and yellow beefsteak tomatoes, manchego cheese, piquillo peppers, and arugula purée. We were in for a definite treat. A very simple appetizer bursting with flavor, an unexpected taste. It was a very refreshing salad for a hot summer afternoon.
Next we ordered the signature chicken empanadas. Which in Miami, is a staple. I had been told by word of mouth that this was one of their most popular dishes. So, I had to try them. Bursting with flavor, we had no words to describe how amazing they tasted. Freshly made, served to us still warm, these were definitely one of, if not the best, chicken empanadas that I have ever tasted. I bit through a perfectly crunchy crust, to then encounter pulled chicken in a mouth watering homemade sauce.
Next were the scallops. They consisted of polenta, tomatoes and feta cheese. As my first time trying scallops, I really enjoyed them and thought that that they were well cooked and put together in a very flavorful way. My favorite part of the scallop dish was being able to mix the crispy polenta with the scallop, it balanced the taste very well. I also cannot fail to mention the strawberry mojito that my guest was sipping on throughout lunch. I was able to taste the it and loved it. The mojito was suggested by and made by our server, and it was really delicious. It was not strong on the alcohol, and it was a perfect refreshment on a hot Miami summer day.
At the end of our lunch, and definitely my favorite dish were the desserts. We ordered the Coconut Upside Down Cake and the Passion Fruit Crème Brulee. Oh my god! Is all I can say because they were so amazing and bursting with flavor. The Coconut Upside down cake was warm, luscious and definitely made to order. It was perfect as I pushed through the cake with my fork and scooped up some caramel sauce that was drizzled along the bottom. Once we took our first bite we could not stop eating it. The Passion Fruit Crème Brulee was also no disappointment. To our surprise, it was topped off with diced avocado. Something unique and definitely delicious.

ï»¿The Wynwood Kitchen and Bar is casual yet filled with such high quality food, drinks and terrific service. The dishes seem simple but are actually complex and bursting with flavor. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, eager to offer recommendations. It is definitely a hidden gem in Miami’s Wynwood Art District. ï»¿
