Breeze Ocean Kitchen at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa Review - WOW

Is it possible to go to Heaven and back in less than 3 hours?  It certainly is, when you’ve been at the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa in Manalapan, Florida.  Situated on seven acres of waterfront perfection has every single amenity you could ever dream of, and more.  It's worth the hour or so ride from Miami to experience this treasure of a resort and spa.

Keep in mind, I am reviewing the Breeze Ocean Restaurant.  Yet, I feel compelled to also go forth with my tour of the fabulous spa.  As their website says, it is “Goosebumps, glamour and ahhh.  Willingly surrender.”

First my review of the staff.  Fabulous. Professional, over-the-top and ready to please.  It starts with the valet and just never ends until you have to, reluctantly, leave.  And a special ‘thank you’ to Nick Gold, the director of public relations for this gorgeous hotel.

We were invited to dine at the Breeze Ocean Kitchen which is one of the multiple dining options at the hotel.  You could eat ‘in’ the water meaning if you were thirsty, they would float out a glass of champagne if you happened to be sitting on one of the lounges situated in the middle of the pool, or you could sit under one of the beautiful awnings protecting you from rain or wind and always have an unobstructed view of the ocean.

I asked Josh, the famous chef at this resort, rather than have us order from the menu, which was so interesting and different, to send us a little bit of anything or everything they thought we’d like.  We started off with ahi tuna cubes seasoned perfectly, wrapped in lettuce with crunchies on top which worked perfectly with the softness of the tuna.  There were assorted dips and chips with a seafood base which was delicious.  Food kept coming and we kept eating.

Then came the assorted tacos and jerky chicken on a stick.  We were starting to say, ‘we can’t eat another thing,’ when the desserts came.  Somehow, we found room for the key lime pie lollypops on a stick covered in chocolate –don’t ask, we fought over those – and the coconut sherbet.  It was so yummy, and I found my eyes rolling and saying, ‘can you believe how fabulous this is?”

Chef Josh Thomsen, who is committed to ‘farm to table’ food in its’ true form, sat down with us and gave us wonderful information about what farm to table truly is and how he won’t use any food that is out of season.  His passion for food and fun drinks is so apparent and we just loved hearing how he comes up with some of his specialty dishes and drinks.

“It’s not every day that you have the opportunity to work with a chef as accomplished and talented as Josh Thomsen,” said Michael King, Managing Director, Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa.

“We are thrilled to have found a culinary partner whose passion, innovation and creativity are such a perfect reflection of the unique Eau Palm Beach brand.”

"I am so very excited to move to South Florida and join the award-winning team of the beautiful Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa,” said new Executive Chef Josh Thomsen, who grew up vacationing in Palm Beach with his family. “It’s really a dream come true, and I look forward to adding my personal touch of seasonal, local cuisine, as well as working hard to nurture our guests and my culinary team.”

In addition to his time as Executive Chef/Partner at Agricola, Thomsen honed his skills at some of the most prominent restaurants in the country including Patina, The French Laundry, Hotel Bel Air, The Lodge at Pebble Beach and Boa Steakhouses, among others.  He was named a “Rising Star Chef” in the San Francisco Bay Area by StarChefs in 2010.  Thomsen is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, a member of The James Beard Foundation

Shout out to Marla, one of the most professional young women I had the pleasure to speak with.  Thank you, Alexis, for the dreamy tour of your spa (where I managed to spend money on creams and things), and I just love how great they make me feel.   Thank you, Nick Gold, for the invite and all the introductions from the valet to the chef, Josh, our humorous waiter Donnie Wilk, who made sure we left pleasantly full and happy.  As we entered the grand foyer, Nick was right at the door greeting us and giving us a tour of this stunning hotel.
