Della’s Kitchen Restaurant Review – The Freshest Breakfast Experience in Las Vegas

Two years ago Delano made its debut as the preeminent boutique hotel on the Las Vegas strip. With Delano came the opening of Della’s Kitchen, which went from a hidden and cozy breakfast spot to the freshest and tastiest breakfast locale on the Las Vegas strip.

Della's Kitchen

Fresh is the key word with Delano and the freshness comes through with every bite. Chef Jay Calimlim takes the term farm to table to a whole new level as he is able to procure ingredients from his own garden on the property. What he doesn’t get from his garden, he is able to obtain on a constant basis from local farms and this allows him to develop a menu around those ingredients. In addition to the menu items themselves, Chef Jay creates his own handcrafted ketchup, jams and well almost everything that you find on the menu was created within the confines of Della’s Kitchen.

Las Vegas is the home of decadence and opulence, thus leaving one to mornings of regret, hangovers and simply too much of everything lingering from the prior evening. Della’s Kitchen has the ultimate recovery and that is in the form of their fresh pressed juices. The green pastures contains every good green vegetable you can think of with a great taste due to the addition of pineapple and ginger. The Mojave Sunrise is a great wakeup drink with a combination of carrot, ginger, apple and lemon. If you are looking for the adult version you can Della’s Mimosa Trois which is a glass of champagne paired with a flight of fresh pressed juices.

Portuguese sausage and pastrami hash

Who does not want to wake up in Las Vegas to a completely overindulgent breakfast? Della’s Kitchen serves those up in every possible fashion. The perfect dish to start off your day is the Portuguese sausage and pastrami hash. The rich flavor of the pastrami steals this dish, but there is so much going on with a slight onion flavor, chopped sausage, hash browns and finished off with two eggs, you are going to find this extremely flavorful, as well as filling yet despite everything involved it eats as a very light dish. There is certainly nothing ordinary about any dish from Chef Jay and no single breakfast entrée is more indicative of that than the blue crab benedict. More blue crab Mornay than can be imagined is just the start as that is piled onto a light and flaky toasted brioche and then all brought together with brie cheese, spinach and roasted tomato. Simply imagine bringing the best of two worlds together, fresh crab and eggs benedict, this is about as savory of a breakfast as you will find in Las Vegas.

If you have a sweet tooth for breakfast, Della’s Kitchen is the place to take care of that. Right now they have a churro waffle that gives you that carnival dessert flavor and is topped off with an espresso mascarpone. You can order a giant stack of custard pancakes that are topped with caramelized apples. Or simply go with one, two or three of the doughssant. What is a doughssant? It is a combination of a sugar doughnut and a croissant and they are fresh and light you might just have to order a dozen to go they are so good. From the toast, to a pastry, pancakes or French toast, the handmade jams make everything better. Right now there is a holiday jam made with cinnamon and pear that is so delectable that you could simply eat it by the spoon and be wowed.

Sadly Della’s Kitchen is only open from 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. but the good thing is that you can have breakfast or lunch at any time of the day. For the lunch menu, whatever time of the day you choose to eat it, you can enjoy the fish of the day that comes from the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program, the cut of the day from Painted Hills Nevada Beef or the Delano burger made with local grass-fed beef. That is enough to tell you Della’s Kitchen from start to finish is all about freshness and quality no matter what you are looking for.

Las Vegas has become the restaurant capitol of the United States and generally it is viewed as a nighttime dining experience. Della’s Kitchen is doing its best to show that breakfast and lunch don’t have to take a back seat to dinner when it comes to providing a fine dining experience. If you are looking for an experience that is a little different than anything else on the strip and fresh handcrafted ingredients are at the top of your list in terms of what you want in a restaurant, Della’s Kitchen is the only place to eat in the Vegas while the sun is rising.
