Jellyfish Cocktails Unveiling Review – Hot Spot Mixology


Yes, Jellyfish is in the midst of Rush Street.  Yes, reviewing it early on we learned it has fabulous food and creative mixology.  In those early days in early evenings you did wonder though if Jellyfish would survive.  Because it’s upstairs nestled amidst a clothing boutique and not on street level, visitors to Rush Street might never notice its existence, was the thought.



How wonderfully surprising then to visit Jellyfish again on the night of what was then promising to be an important stop to the Cubs winning the world series to see that Jellyfish is about as happening as a place can be.

  • The Great Wall: Ketel One, Green Chartreuse, yuzu, honey (Yellow)
  • Southeast Meets Cuba: Captain Morgan White, lemongrass, lime juice, soda
  • One Night Stand: Don Julio Blanco, Cointreau, lime juice, simple syrup, cranberry (Pink)
  • All Falls Down: Bullet Bourbon, Amaro liqueur, allspice, with simple syrup (Auburn)
  • Bijou: Tanqueray Gin, Cocchi liqueur, Green Chartreuse, orange bitters
  • Rob Roy: Johnnie Walker Black, Sweet Vermouth, Angostura 
  • Aviation #2: Tanqueray, Crème de Violette, Green Chartreuse, lemon juice
  • Thai-Hito: White rum, ginger syrup, mint, Thai chili, lime, orange bitters
  • Pimm’s Juice: Pimms, Chambord, lemon juice, ginger ale, garnished with lime zest
  • Hennessy P: Cognac, lemon, honey, peach bitters, egg white
  • Italian Stallion: Bourbon, honey, rough infused oregano, cherry vanilla bitters
  • Don Juan: Reposado, cucumber, jalapeño, agave, lime
  • Riding the Delorean: Amaretto, smoked egg white, lime, simple syrup
  • When the Smoke Clears: Mezcal, muddled raspberries, cinnamon syrup, Jägermeister, lime juice
  • Boogie Nights: Mezcal, blueberry, mint, agave, lime 
  • The Perfect Storm: Dark rum, vanilla, ginger beer, allspice, lime, egg white
  • Straight to the Point: Don Julio 1942 neat with a lime twist
  • The Industry: Jameson, ginger beer, Angostura
  • Village and Vein: Dickle Rye, apple bitters, maple syrup, cinnamon syrup



And, having skipped the sushi last go ‘round to make room for the fancier hot entrees, it was pleasant to learn that “plain” sushi at Jellyfish isn’t that plain at all. 



While all good, the sashimi we sampled was a clear favorite. 

What a pleasant reminder to put Jellyfish back on our radar!
