Last week I joined the premiere of Palazzo in Amsterdam. My contact at Palazzo, Tijno Verkerke, was so nice to choose for me the table n.46, a top table, just in front of the central podium with a 'pole position' view. Guests sitting at that table were really fantastic! I had the Palazzo-Ron Blaauw with dinner the most important haut couturier of The Netherlands, Franz Molenaar, and the TV show man and producer Willibrord Frequin with his fiancee and colleague Susan Rastin. Many other Dutch celebrities joined the events.

After two successful previous years the Palazzo Marquee of Mirrors was set up in Amsterdam for a third time. From November to February Michelin two-star Master Chef Ron Blaauw brings you a brand new top quality culinary dinner experience, with a surprising new show by international top-performers. When Palazzo first came to Amsterdam in 2004 it quickly became a household name. Since then, over 40,000 guests have enjoyed this exciting form of culinary entertainment which perfectly blends haute cuisine and wonderful show. Palazzo is known for its Cirque de Soleil-type variety show.

Irene Lievens and Mr.P.P.
Evening was presented by comedian Kim Tyler alias Mr.P.P., famous for his 'mouth ping-pong act'. Rosaria Terrazzano and Eric Nondsen, alias 'le jeune serveur' Maurice, were entertaining us at our table. Maurice is famous for his champagne cooler juggling act. Maxim Papazov showed us an incredible equilibristic show using chairs. Hang Chen performed an antipodeans act catching vases, sheets and even a table. Caroline Hammer combined dance and acrobatics through perfect control of her hoops. The trio Bellissimo showed an original acrobatic show, turning creativity and excellent technical abilities into a fantastic exercise.

The Duo Corazon expressed in their show human contrasts (love and hate, passion and cruelty) through a moving choreography. Irene Lievens entertained us with his beautiful voice and Johnny Filion with his comedy act created the funniest moment of the evening. The Venediktov Duo performed their famous trapeze act.

Master Chef Ron Blaauw, famous for his own establishment in Ouderkerk aan den Amstel, has composed a new menu for the new edition of Palazzo. Together with his kitchen brigade, ensures that the best ingredients are bought, that dishes are perfectly prepared and that the menu is well combined with the show.

With the six courses of Palazzo menu 2006 you will taste the best ingredients this autumn has to offer: two starters (deep fried shrimps with spring onion, salmon and cucumber pizza with a mustard and dill cream); a cream of tomato and basil with a froth of Parmesan and crispy squid; softly cooked cod with a parsley crust, baby carrots and a beurre blanc with paprika; roast beef tenderloin with an oyster mushroom polenta and red wine sauce. And the best part for me, the dessert: warm chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream, an almond cookie creme brulee and pineapple confit with a froth of Pina Colada.

Palazzo puts world class acrobatics, comedy and magic right at your table.
From 2 November 2006 to 3 February 2007 the Palazzo Marquee of Mirrors will be located in the Sculpture Garden of the Westergasfabriek Culture Park in Amsterdam.
