'The Simpsons' 27th Season - Exclusive Interview Al Jean

The 27th season kicks off on Sunday September 27, 2015 at 8PM E/P. Fox renewed 'The Simpsons’ for a 27th and 28th season. The animated series was created by Matt Groening and showrunner Al Jean. The Simpsons uses situation comedy, or sitcom, as its premise. The series centers on a family and their life in a typical American town and serves as a satirical parody of a variety of situations taking examples from movies, television, music, literature, science, and history that's surrounded by the lifestyle of the American middle class. The voice actors are estimated to now make more than $300,000 per episode after many years.

Al Jean attended ATX Television Festival 2015 and LA Splash Magazine had an exclusive interview with the famous showrunner.

Yenis Monterrey.- 'The Simpsons' is one of the longest running entertainment series in U.S television history, and the series is about to head into its 27th season, with another season already locked down. What’s the secret of the series?

Al Jean.- ”The secret of the show is very easy. There are two secrets, first since the show is about a family you see everywhere with stories that are true and people that are believable.  It’s about a family and the feeling worldwide that families aren’t so perfect. Second, the other secret of the show is that we work very hard and everybody who works in the show knows and connects very well to the fact we are creating something very special and we don’t want the show to go down.”

Yenis Monterrey.-  Can you tell me some facts about what to expect in the new season? (Season premieres Sunday, 8PM E/P "Every Man’s Dream" Homer and Marge visit a marriage counselor and have a trial separation, during which homer begins dating a twenty-something)

Al Jean.-” The premiere of the TV show will have a new season on September the 27th, and in the new season we discover after all these years that Homer has narcolepsy and this problem has really been a strain on the marriage so they file for separation. Homer and Marge legally separate and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham. We’ll have cameos from the other women from “Girls.”

We will have also an episode where Lisa befriends a homeless woman who turns out to be an incredible singer, The woman’s voiced by Kate McKinnon, but the singing is done by the native Texan Natalie Maines.

Yenis Monterrey.- Do you have any Hispanic guest star, since the TV series has been always socially diverse? We would like to watch in the show more Hispanic characters.

Al Jean.-”Mrs. Berrera plays Bart's teacher on 'The Simpsons' who is voiced by Sofia Vergara (Modern Family star). Mrs Berrera is highly attractive and the principal Skinner stars going out with her on the episode. Vergara’s episode, titled “Teenage Mutant Milk-Caused Hurdles,” is slated to air in the middle of season 27.

'The Simpsons 'is very successful show in the spanish culture since the TV show  is based in different cultures and in fact we will have another new character who is latino and he will be appearing more and more in the show. Characters like that in the show who get a line and get a lot of laughs get bigger and bigger and that's how it works.”

Congratulations to Hank Azaria who received an Emmy for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance-2015 ' The Simpsons'. "The Princess Guide" FOX Hank Azaria, Moe Szyslak and Pedicab. With 5 wins and 11 nominations, he’s been a part of the show for the past 23 years and he has been performing voices on The Simpsons for an array of characters.
