Randall P. Dark Pioneer - Creative and Visionary in the Film Industry

Randall Dark is a Cinematographer, Director, producer and a writer. He started his career in Canada writing, directing and producing theater. Randall was the co-founder and creative visionary behind HD Vision Studios in Los Angeles. He is a member of the Television Arts and Sciences Academy a group recognized for their efforts implementing Digital Television in the United States. Dark also received one of the International Electronic Cinema Festival's top honors: The Pioneer Award, bestowed in recognition of extraordinary contributions to the success of HDTV. Recognized globally as an expert in emerging technologies, Randall has spoken to audiences at events including: MIPCOM, CASBAA-Hong Kong, Tokyo International Film Festival, Banff World Television Festival, and National Association of Broadcaster's Convention, Infocomm, Consumer Electronic Show, HDExpo, Hollywood Post Alliance, NATPE and more.

Randall Dark Productions, Inc. has been involved in numerous HD projects including feature films, documentaries, commercials, music videos,  and corporate presentations. Randall Dark is one of the executive producers of the acclaimed feature film about Christmas called “Angels Sing” (2013) starring Harry Connick Jr, Connie Britton, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson,  and Lyle Lovett. The movie was shot in Austin and Bastrop and premiered at SXSW.

 

Makarios: A Rising Tide (2011), directed by Randall Dark, produced by Kristen Cox and winner of the Chairman’s Special Award for Social Consciousness in filmmaking at the Macau China International Digital Cinema. It will be aired this month on KLRU Thursday April 24th 2014 at 9:30 PM and Monday April 28th 2014 at 10:30 PM. This is a high definition documentary that examines a pre-school tucked away in a remote village in the Dominican Republic and its efforts to end the cycle of extreme poverty through education. The school's founder, Sharla Megilligan and Dr. Pam Schiller describe their efforts to develop young children for lifelong learning and problem solving. Makarios: A Rising Tide is a story of gritty humanitarianism that grips the heart.

Dark also directed and produced the award winning feature documentary "Seadrift vs The Big Guy” (2012) a film about the Texas Water Safari canoe race. It presents the viewer not only with an involving look at a group of very determined sports enthusiasts taking on a daunting physical challenge, but also a technological tour de force of digital filmmaking.

 

HD Programs directed by Randall P. Dark has received awards from CEA, Telly, IECF, Communicator, Aurora, Axiem, WorldFest Houston International Film Festival, Videographer, The American Corporate Video Awards and Cinema Chicago.

 

Dark currently serves as the artistic director of the Macao China International Digital Cinema Festival. He is also a member of the Caucus for Producers, Writers, and Directors, an alliance of television and new media content creators. He is a member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada, which published his children's play Tale of Sasquatch.

 

Randall P. Dark is essentially innovative in the area of high definition and he has never been afraid of technology and advices to younger generations of filmmakers to embrace the changes and adopt the global trends in order to be successful. He considers himself to be a very responsible entrepreneur and by making a difference he has been received by an enthusiastic audience around the world!
