I’m the La La girl and here to tell you all my news from the Oscars.
It’s no easy feat to sashay on the red carpet alongside glamorous stars like Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman – all in their stunning ensembles, of course.
Was I nervous? Yeah, for sure! But thanks to makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, hair stylist, Warren-Tricomi, sparkling jewellery by Lorraine Swartz, killer heels by Christian Louboutin and the most magical dress by Donatella Versace, I was transformed just like Cinderella and ready for the ball.
Bring on the red carpet glamour, the night of Oscar statuettes and Hollywood magic, not to mention the glasses of finest bubbly. The first party I rocked up too was the Vanity Fair Party, hosted by Graydon Carter, at the Sunset Tower Hotel.
The first star I bumped into was Cameron Diaz, who was wearing a stunning tangerine gown. Only Cameron could pull off that much orange – and, the dress fitted her perfectly. “It’s a Victoria Beckham dress,” she told me. “I’m a big fan of Victoria’s dresses. They just fit perfectly.”
Victoria Beckham aside, it seems that Cameron has a big fan herself. Step forward Sean “Diddy” Combs. He had his arm around her … and Cameron seemed very happy about that. And Sean, also looked very happy to meet his ex, Jennifer Lopez’s new beau, Casper Smart. It was nice to see such happy families in Hollywood on Oscar night.
On my way out, I spotted Gwyneth, still in cape, patiently queuing in the line for the ladies room.
Next stop for me was Harvey Weinstein’s party at the Mondrian Hotel. Boy was he in a in a jubilant mood after winning a truck-load of Oscars. And who can blame him?
But the winner of the night was third-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep. Even though she was flanked by security, Harvey dashed to her side to escort her to the bar. I've never seen him move so fast. “I’m so delighted,” I heard her mutter to Mr. Weinstein. Clearly so. She held on to her Oscar gong – and only let it go for a second or two, when she celebrated with a glass of bubbly. And who’s that trying to get through her security and congratulate the Iron Lady – none other than Prince Albert of Monaco!
But my real Oscar winner for the night was Colin Firth, who was by Meryl Streep’s side to celebrate her big win. He was so polite that he didn’t even seem to mind when strangers shamelessly interrupted him while he was in deep conversation with his stunning wife.
And, as I headed for home, he smiled, said “hello,” and added, “I hope you have enjoyed yourself young lady.”
Mr. Firth, you get the Oscar for being the most polite gentleman of the night.
