Marvel's The Avengers Banner
Marvel’s The Avengers is set to hit the $600 million mark in domestic earnings placing it in third place behind James Cameron’s Avatar and Titanic.
The film kicked off the summer with a record breaking $207.4 million its opening weekend. The film was popular with those familiar with the Marvel universe, but also grabbed newcomers through introductory films including Iron Man, Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor. Marvel Studios was so amazed at the fan’s reception, they released a thank you video called “Global Phenomenon” to thank the fans for helping the film reach such a remarkable milestone.
Although the film has been in theaters for 54 weeks, it was still in the top ten this weekend earning over $7.1 million. Two questions remain; will the film continue to grab moviegoers during the July 4 holiday with The Amazing Spider-Man hitting theaters on July 3? With the highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises coming to theaters on July 20, will “Marvel’s The Avengers” be able to hold its third place position?
What do you think?
