A true comedy about a family AQUI ENTRE NOS (BETWEEN US) explores the twists and turns that family relationships experience over time. Jesus Ochoa’s performance as Rodolfo Guerra, the patriarch of the family, won him the Best Actor Award at the Guadalajara International Film Festival. Rodolfo feels that the family sees him as a necessary evil. He knows that they need him but he mostly gets in the way of their lives.  Humorous at every step, Rodolfo breaks from the family routine and finds himself as a stranger in his own home. As he begins to untangle the intrigues and lies which he has been living with, he begins going deeper to discover the truth. Funny from beginning to end, the film is a War of the Roses with a mariachi band, love and the everlasting feeling that life will turn out OK. The cast includes Carmen Beato as wife Miriam, Diana García as  the eldest daughter Sofia and Giovanna Zacarías as Cecilia; among others. AQUI ENTRE  NOS (BETWEEN US) is produced by Roberto Sneider and Patricia Martínez de Velasco.

Patricia Martínez de Velasco was born in Mexico City. She directed shorts and documentaries that have been invited to national and international film festivals. She is  the author of the book "Directoras De Cine: Proyección De Un Mundo Oscuro" ("Women  Directors: Projection of a Dark World"), edited by the Mexican Institute of  Cinematography and the CONEICC. She also directed "La Vaquita Marina" ("The Little  Cow"), produced by Pronatura and México Desconocido and won the First Prize in the  Third Biennial of Video. Patricia Martinez de Velasco is an accomplished award winning commercial director and some of her work is now included in the permanent collection of  the Department of Film and Media in the Museum of Modern Art, New York. “We are thrilled to open our festival with a delightful feel-good movie, once again an Opera Prima and yet again by a female director Patricia Martínez de Velasco” said Marlene  Dermer, LALIFF Executive Director, Programmer and Co-Founder. “This keeps with our mission of exposing new talent and voices to our community and the industry” she concluded.
