The first annual Geekie Awards was held on Sunday, August 18th at the Avalon in Hollywood where Stan Lee was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.  Nathan Fillion (star of the critically acclaimed Castle) received the Geek of the Year Award and Jesse Heiman accepted the award on his behalf. The night buzzed with many bright faces counting among its celebrity roster: Stan Lee, Seth Green, Jesse Heiman, Samm Levine, and others. The night was also dedicated to the many individuals who work hard off screen as producers, writers, tech engineers, and many more. The Geekie Awards is primarily geared towards those with a passion for genres like comic books, science fiction, toys, and webseries including: ElfQuest, Team Unicorn, and Podcrash. As the cameras went off, celebrities and guests mingled in a jam-packed environment filled with music and excitement. Many came elaborately dressed for the event and walked the red carpet in elaborate wigs, creative make-up, and provocative outfits befitting the event. We also witnessed a bevy of character costumes such as Princess Leia, Captain America, Wonder Woman, and there was even an R2D2 simulation that the guests were delighted to pose with. It was a roundup of great minds coming together to discuss former projects and introduce their future endeavors. We had the chance to speak with several of the talents present that night. The girls from Team Unicorn (Clare Grant, Milynn Sarley, Rileah Vanderbilt) talked to us about their web projects and their many spoofs.

It was also interesting to hear from Grant Imahara (host of Mythbusters) about what the upcoming season of the show has in store for us. We also had the chance to speak with other actors such as Stephanie Thorpe, Christopher Wolfe, Danielle Vasinova, Mindy Robinson, and Mark Christopher Lawrence (Chuck).

Amoeba Music provided gift bags. Below we present you a list of the evening’s winners and recipients!
