Django Unchained is a film that is based two years before the Civil War. The film is based in slave time where a slave does the unthinkable, and that is to become a ‘free man.’ Throughout the trials and tribulations Django, Jamie Foxx, proves his worth as a free man and has earned the title of a bounty hunter. With the help of the unorthodox Dr. King Schultz, played by Christoph Waltz, the two set forward to find the South’s most wanted criminals. Undeniably the two give the South a run for their money and step by step defeat the barriers that society has placed upon them. Honing his hunting skills, Schultz decides to pair with Django to capture his victims. However, Django remains focused on one goal-and that is to find and rescue Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), his wife he lost due to the slave trade years ago.

Searching every major plantation the duo is led to “Candyland”, an infamous plantation, and the location of his wife. Calvin Candie-the proprietor of “Candyland”, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Stephen, Samuel L. Jackson put on a performance and gives the bounty hunters more than they bargained for. Throughout the course of their stay they end with a bloodbath ‘Tarantino’ style. An end all be all fight that is full of bloody gore, and explosives with a treacherous twist. A film that walks the line between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival, Django Unchained will definitely keep you on the edge of your seats.
