The Quebec Film & Television Council Promotes the Region at AFM

The Québec Film and Television Council attended the 2008 American Film Market to promote its high quality services to producers. They set up a cosy space at the AFM to greet filmmakers with promotional bags stuffed with information, a lounge for meetings and demo presentations from Québec’s animation and visual effects studios.

As part of the AFM program, QFTC participated in the Location Expo program where representatives from film offices around the world spoke to attendees about the benefits of making movies in their back yard. Québec has much to offer filmmakers and the Québec Film and Television Council works not only to promote Québec as a production location but to promote the region’s strong digital animation infrastructure for the film  and television industry.

As a location, Québec has many attractions and benefits to offer filmmakers. The role of the QFTC is to provide an easy-access service for producers who want to save time, effort and money at all stages of  production, including pre- and post-production services.

Montreal, Québec’s metropolis, ranks as one of the most production-friendly locations in the world. Canada’s largest studio facilities, includes vast indoor spaces and high ceilings, are situated five minutes from Montreal’s downtown allowing a minimum travel time from hotel to set…all the while seeing up to a 53. 8% return on all labour spend in Québec.

The different services available range from script breakdown,  to a digital location library  with 30,000 references and full location support, to coordinating with all levels of government, crew, studios and labs. Producers can also profit from up to 53.8% tax credit if they choose Québec as their location.
