UPDATE: Jan. 21, 2010 – The winner of the American Film Market’s 2009 Favorite Film Pitch contest was announced today. David Minnihan’s pitch of Father John received the most votes and his adventure spy drama produced by Minnihan and written by Steven G. Long received the official Waterford Crystal People’s Choice Award. The winning pitch can be viewed on the People's Choice website.
Additionally, Minnihan will receive an
AFM 2010 package that
includes full access for two to the
AFM; airfare for two to Los Angeles; hotel
for five nights in Santa Monica; and scheduled meetings with producers and
distributors.
UPDATE: Jan. 7, 2010 – The five finalists chosen for the Favorite Film Pitch Contest were announced at the televised People's Choice awards on Januay 6, 2010. They are: Stephanie Bell (The Devil of Appalachia), Carlo Besasie (All The Queen’s Men), Mouncey Ferguson (Forger), Barry Kneller (The Mechanics) and David Minnihan (Father John). Voting now begins for the winner and continues until Januay 20, 2010. Like other People's Choice awards, the viewing public will decide which pitch they think best describes a movie they want to see made.

The pitch contest took place in the AFM Filmmaker's Lounge.
Anybody who shows up can participate.
AFM ticket-holders are given priority,
with everyone else on a first-come, first-served basis from November 7-10,
2009.
Pitches are recorded live in
the Filmmaker's Lounge. Each person gets two-and-a half-minutes and no
more.
People can opt to make a
second pitch if they flub the first, that erases their first and the second one
will be their entry.
Industry professionals will pick five pitches to be posted at www.PeoplesChoice.com where viewers can vote. The winning pitch will be announced in January at the 2010 People's Choice Awards. The winner will get a trip to LA for the 2010 AFM that will include airfare, hotel, full Market access for two, and meetings with producers and distributors.
