Vivienne Tam debuts her Spring 2012 RTW Collection at Lincoln Center’s New York Fashion Week. Her traditional style manages to intermix an effortless and distinctive elegance. Vivienne Tam’sinspiration originated from a Zen garden at her apartment which is reminisce of the seventies era; a time that personified transformation and love of nature. The natural world epitomizes so much beauty from life to color to sound to freedom. The show opened with a fiery red cotton blazer, a silk draped printed shorts with red tones and a matching blouse. As the blazer came off revealing variations of the same print there was a reoccurring theme of sheer and see-thru tops. The aura of the collection exemplified a free-spirited, sophisticated woman who unveiled her fun side with bold prints.

The color palettes switched from ocean-inspired bamboo prints to geometric and organic shapes with interlocking patterns. The bold unanticipated hues found in nature symbolize the epoch of flair and grace.  The color pattern ranged from orchid, bright orange, bamboo, pale blue and black to tie-dyed prints. Matching medium-sized clutches made with the identical fabric were accessorized perfectly to complete the looks. The black fringe flapper skirt coupled with asymmetrical blouse can be worn from day to evening. The design reappears as a black crochet flower appliqué fabric fringe flapper dress.   Vivienne Tam’s collection appeals to the modern beauty. There is a resonating feel of fluidity and freshness just in time for the Spring.

The anthology pairs a bamboo print cotton crop jacket with a tie-dyed bias blouse, a bamboo print cotton Bardot pants, and an orange leather chain bag. The assortment of prints is surprisingly trendy. There are an array of low-cut shirts and dresses oozing in a hint of sex appeal. The models’ hair is pulled off their faces in a bun to showcase the natural make-up which is in perfect sync with the confident woman. The final two pieces bring the collection full circle; stemming from the designer’s roots in a vision of Asian inspired high-fashion the show closes with a waterfall sleeves coral dress and a garden print chiffon waterfall sleeves gownThe pieces are nothing short of a breathtaking mirror image of the refined woman. The flowing gown leaves you in awe. And the audience showed they were wowed with cheers.

The Zen garden compilation, paired with the seventies spirit,  gets the job done once again delivering an enchanting line that caters not only to the elite woman but the urban genre as well. The clutches highlighted the garments in a refreshing way. The pouch represents the trendy woman on the go who is fashion conscious from head to toe.  Vivienne Tam shows off a smart collection attracting women of all ages. There is a genius that lives inside a designer that can successfully appeal to a broader spectrum of target markets within the same collection.  Vivienne Tam’sbusiness savvy and fashion sense are a sure way to elevate her up the success ladder.
