Mathieu Mirano’s Spring 2014 Collection was seductive, powerful, luxurious and ornate. This collection in particular showcased his ability to craft gorgeous garments out of some of the most creative fabrications. Inspired by Hollywood starlet Rita Hayworth and the story of Lolita, the clothing exuded femininity with a touch of danger.
Taking some of the runways trendiest items for this coming spring, Mirano made them his own. Florals were seen in his use of intricate lace that was then laminated for a patent effect. The designer showed of his creativity and expert craftsmanship by taking the floral trend literally and using real rose petals to create tiny sequins. The tiny rose petal sequins were used in making rose patterns over gilded pheasant feathers on couture cocktail frocks. The crop top, another huge trend for spring, was seen throughout his collection as bustiers and corseted tops. But rather than appearing like a Cher Horowitz ensemble, these cropped tops exuded such sexuality and femininity that a long cigarette seemed necessary as an accessory.
The designer’s use of exquisite leather skins, particularly metallic python added another element of luxury and power. The perfectly fitted python garments seemed to hug the models as closely as the constricting snake would. The use of a snakeskin that sits at the top of the food chain seemed to echo the idea of the woman that Mirano wants to dress. A woman who is just as beautiful as she is powerful.
The young designer showed that he is anything but a novice. Becoming known for his couture designs and high quality, his name is sure to become an empire. Having dressed powerhouses like Lady Gaga and Nicole Richie recently, this designer is on the rise with no end in sight. This Femme Fatale collection by Mathieu Mirano will be perfect come spring for any woman wanting to add something sultry and beautiful to her closet and let’s be honest, who doesn’t want that?
