Lela Rose created an enchanted fairy tale with a darker side for her Fall 2013 Collection drawing inspiration from the Brothers Grimm. The collection was a magical compilation of brilliant colors, intricate details and elegant silhouettes perfect for any fete come this fall. The designer added her usual touches of whimsy with embellishments and frothy organza fabrics that floated down the runway.
The ladylike collection transitioned a spring favorite, the floral trend on into the fall by using heavier jacquards woven with floral accents for a less sweet version of the watercolors seen all over the previous runway season. Graphic prints using plaids and stripes in bright yellows and oranges were a great alternative to flirtier florals. A citrine floral dress was certainly calling out to be worn by First Lady, Mrs. Obama.
Peplums stuck around for another season in new and exciting ways. Lela Rose used feathers for a flirty peplum on dresses and even jackets. Using weightier fabrics, a more architectural peplum was a more serious take for the feminine silhouette. Asymmetrical necklines highlighted a chiseled shoulder and showed the designer’s ability to highlight one feature of a woman allowing women to dress for their individual body type.
The designer’s southern charm melded together with her time spent in Colorado showing her passion for color drawing inspiration straight from nature. Bold colors like citrine, poppy red, emerald green and burnt orange added a pop to the collection. The dresses glowed as they came down the runway in glittering metallics and jacquards.
Lela Rose’s attention to detail showed through with her use of pearls, lace overlay, jewels and feathers. The dresses and jackets were complete and ready to wear with adorned jewels as necklaces. No accessories are required with Rose’s clothes as they come complete with attached necklaces and beading. Lace was perfectly placed to accentuate hourglass figures. The ability to add delightful details and embellishments without overdoing it is an art form that the designer masters each season.
This collection was truly a dream come true sending girlish fantasies of balls and lavish cocktail parties through everyone’s minds. The talented designer showcased her mysterious side with the use of daring colors and textures. The prim and proper collection is surely fit for a southern belle or even the First Lady and will grace many a parties this coming fall.
