Jen Awad brings creativity, flair and retro-feminine mystique to her Spring 2013 Collection. Emerging from the silk draped double-doors of the Carondelet House, came designs meant to evoke total adoration. The collection brought uncompromising style and ethereal charm, with each piece building on the next creating a story of nostalgia and feminine beauty only Jen Awad could produce.
Every collection she has created has always been met with excitement and intense anticipation. This year was no different, except it solidified her as a fashion stronghold. From the form-fitting silhouettes to the perfect meeting of patterns, the line showed a level of continued maturity in design and skill few have mastered on this level. It has also set a benchmark for others to follow and for Ms. Awad to grow as a designer.
The Egyptian and Peruvian L.A. native’s diversity and personality is seen in every well-tailored piece that seduced the audience, grasping and maintaining the beholders attention with each new look. Those traits coupled with her ability to project her personality through her design created a memorable collection filled with substance.
The Spring 2013 Collection had an ecliptic triple threat of edgy, sexy and chic. The qualities cumulated to create a fashion tension only her collection could create and soothe, with the only downside the inexperience of some of the models. Nevertheless, there was not one piece of her collection that didn’t speak of the love an artist has for its creation. Like Dita Von Teese, Ms. Awad’s inspiration, her designs capture a part of women that is often hidden but wants to be seen.
