Dubai made it's mark on the world of fashion during it's Fashion Forward showcase April 10 - 13, 2014. The Middle East had eighteen designers present their work during a three-day celebration. This was Dubai's 3rd Fashion Forward gala making it one of the leading international fashion destinations. Fashion Forward (FFWD) aims to be the definitive fashion platform for the Middle East – a fashion movement that highlights strengths, inspires and nurtures industry growth and its wealth of talent, with the ultimate goal of driving forward the entire fashion industry in the region. FFWD includes numerous catwalk presentations from top regional designers. FFWD sponsors inspiring talks and panel discussions led by global industry experts and fashion academia. They also provide entertainment, through an orchestra of well-attended social events and parties.
Designers included Amato By Furne One, Asudari, Bashar Assaf, Emperor 1688, Essa, Ezra, Grazia Emerging Designer, House Of Ronald, Jean Louis Sabaji, Kage, Rami Kadi, Said Mahrouf, Starch Foundation Designers, Tahir Sultan, Taller Marmo, Velsvoir X Patrick Hellman, Zareena, Zayan The Label hit the runway of Dubai. The impressive line-up these incredible designers adds further depth and range to the established platform. “Going into Season Three, we were keen to maintain our momentum and draw from what Seasons One and Two have taught us,” said Bong Guerrero, Founder and CEO of Fashion Forward. “Broadening our reach even further across the region has always been our goal, and whilst we will continue to do so, season after season, our main focus must always be on showcasing the best and brightest design talent. On this point Season Three does not disappoint, as we have selected a diverse and representative portfolio of designers from those who have shown in previous seasons, and those who are new to the platform, but have significant and notable talent,” added Guerrero.
Over the three days, FFWD’s catwalk showcased an array of jaw-dropping collections and ingenious designs. Fashion Forward was a successful celebration of the talent of local designers. Fashion Forward is recognized for supporting local talent: “Making a collection a commercial success is, of course, the aim for any designer. “It is important for us to help the designers not only showcase their pieces on the runway or in The Garden, but to also help them translate this to sales afterwards.” said Guerrero. Dubai’s fashion industry is building a strong foundation in the world of fashion. It's standing tall next to fashion destinations like New York, Paris, and Italy. The Middle East has proven itself to be an elite member of today's fashion world. I look forward to seeing what next year will bring to the runway.
