Diane Von Furstenberg Fall 2013 Collection Review – Life of the Party

Diane von Furstenberg creates clothes for women that walk with swagger. This collection was no different as it was a throwback to her iconic days of upcoming success in the Studio 54 era. It was a celebration of all of her achievements and success in fashion remembering where she started. Comfort and glamour are two things that go hand in hand for the woman that wears this collection as can be seen by the forgiving fabrics and genius wrap dresses.  The show started and ended with models smiling as they strutted down the runway to disco beats. The designer took her fans to a place in time of Glam Rock in the likes of Mick Jagger and David Bowie.

Pantsuits were all the rage ranging from metallic to embellished and printed

Dusty neutrals played off of metallic showstoppers creating balance within the collection. Models commanded attention in bronze lame pants paired with fur vests. A wing printed pant suit was elevated to the next level with beading and embellishment that reflected off the runway. It seemed as though von Furstenberg took note of every Olympic medal using gold silver and bronze metallics throughout the collection.

The iconic wrap dress was a staple of this collection

The iconic wrap dress may date back to the 1970s but it is still as popular as ever. This season the wrap dresses were re-issued in ultra suede as in true 70’s fashion. These easy to wear dresses are perfect for the city chic girl that is on the go.

Larger than life prints were seen throughout the collection

Larger than life prints have always been a forte for the veteran designer and this collection certainly wasn’t lacking. Diane von Furstenberg offered a plethora of patterns to suit many a kind of woman. Inspired by the Escher-esque birds that are forever in motion, wing prints decked out pants, blouses and dresses alike. Leopard print came in all shapes and sizes creating eye catching and strong looks. The chain link print was distorted in a frenzy of black and white for the funky girl.

Equally strong and feminine, Diane von Furstenberg never ceases to amaze her throng of devoted fans. As she danced down the runway to “I’m Every Woman”, she showed off her effortless glamour that sums up just what the DVF brand stands for. Dress like you are a rock star as Diane von Furstenberg said, “Life is a party.”
