Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear Collection Review — Runway Rendez-Vous

“Smiling at her shadow, she fantasizes about the unknown,” so read the liner notes of the Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear Collection Showrun. Titled “Rendez-vous,” this collection was designed with the woman in mind who wants to be glamorous at a moment’s notice. And we would expect nothing less from the DVF woman; she is bold, self-confident, and this season, she’s even feeling a little mysterious

Vivid hues and playful prints are mainstays for the CFDA President’s lifestyle brand. Notescape, torn rose petal, swirling chain, jigsaw, and paisley were a handful of the signature prints we saw on the DVF runway. “It’s all about seduction, it’s bold, it’s daring; it’s strong and it has humor—the prints are very whimsical…It’s the yin and the yang, the matte and the shiny, the short and the long…” said Diane von Furstenberg of the new collection.

A vibrant palette, bold color-blocking, and playful prints have become signature staples for the DVF aesthetic, but this season the silhouettes felt more nonchalantly relaxed with layered dimension, texture, and proportion. The DVF woman has an unquenchable thirst for adventure; she is constantly exploring, evolving, and reinventing herself. She’s a restless spirit, innately curious, and delightfully intrigued by life’s unsolved riddles.

With 48 new looks, my favorites from the Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear Collection included: the scarlet hand crepe embellished long sleeve dress with black and white patent leather keyhole box clutch, and black
