Christian Audigier of Ed Hardy fame presented his runway show during the Mercedes-Benz LA Fashion Week Spring 2008 at Smashbox Studios, Culver City, CA, Tuesday, October 16th 2007.
The much-anticipated show at Los Angeles Mercedes Benz fashion week was evocative of 1940s French culture meets modern Rock ‘N Roll aesthetics. The runway incorporated architectural landmarks as part of the show such as the mock Eiffle Tower statue that the models came walking out from under. A great part of the visual appeal included men in uniforms, and for the women featured the reproduction of the highly stylized looks of Marlene Dietrich and chanteuse Edith Piaf. The feel of the collection, which included accentuated pencil-thin eyebrows, may have been post war France reinvented however the clothes were truly modern.
"My collection," states Christian Audigier, "is based on a vision that celebrates the full spectrum and exuberance of today's American lifestyle culture, which includes rap, pop and rock 'n' roll."
The front row at Christian Audigier Spring Summer 2008 included David Hasselhoff with his daughter, Brandy, Bai Ling, and chart-topping singer Bettina graced the front row during the show. Designer Bio: Christian Audigier was born in southern France in the city of Avignon. From the beginning, he was drawn to the rock and roll style. He wanted to follow in the footsteps of Mick Jagger, but lacked the singing voice. Christian then moved into fashion, building the impressive portfolio you see today.
