The floor was lined with pink roses and chrysanthemums as an added touch to her show

Designer Cassie Betts presented her unique and innovative designs to a sold out crowd at Ca’Brea Restaurant for LA Fashion Week.  According to Betts, her style has evolved from “being very urban-rock-trendy to now classic and sophisticated.”  Furthermore, her vision “channels the movie stars of the 1950’s, but with a modern and rebellious edge.”  When asked about her style of design, she exclaims, “I hate to be put in a box.  Who made the rule that a wedding dress has to be long, white and conservative?  Whatever the length, silhouette and color of a dress, if it’s worn during your wedding ceremony, it’s your wedding dress.”  She definitely prides on that mantra when presenting her collection.

These form-fitting dresses with Betts' unique touch made a splash on the runway

R&B Singer Ultrami rocked a Cassie Betts original as she lent her vocals for the evening

One thing Betts should be commended on is her elegant attention to detail in presenting her Bridal Couture Collection.  Atmosphere was a key element in conveying her theme as she transformed Ca’Brea’s upstairs small banquet room into a breathtaking setting.  She fashioned the ambiance of a wedding ceremony complete with rose petals and chrysanthemums strategically placed on the floor suggestive of a runway.  The flowers were a perfect way to pay homage to her Hawaiian roots.  As an added touch, Betts had everyone’s name on place cards on the back of each chair like a bride’s seating chart which was genius on her part.

The show kicked off with performances from The Incredible Mr. Smith (former lead singer of AZ YET) and Ultrami who lent their sultry voices on a rendition of Jay-Z and Rhianna’s hit “ Run This Town” as the models graced the runway in Betts’ signature couture.  Each design that graced the runway had a special signature touch that elicited a response one would hear when seeing the bride for the very first time and the audience was her groom.

These breathtaking gowns were the rave at the Rebel Bride Fashion Show

Designs ranged from a simple halter dress with a fuchsia petticoat to a convertible dress with a long, mermaid-style train with signature hand-painted orchids and pearl beading again representing her island finesse.  Not only did Betts present non-traditional gowns for the future bride, but she also preserved the sexy with unconventional party dresses that worked seamlessly with her overall theme.

The Rebel Bride Designer herself Cassie Betts takes the runway to receive her accolades

For fashion designer Cassie Betts, traditional bridal designs are an understated thing of the past.  A majority of her bridal line used heavy weight satin with bows and ruffles which gave each gown a timeless look.  Careful detail in construction and her use of accessories and color made each outfit a one-of-a-kind gem.  Overall, at the end of the night, Betts’ debut showing was greeted with thunderous applause along with a standing ovation for couture worthy of being a part of Fashion Week.  She may be a small fish in a big sea, but she managed to create a lot of ripples.
