In a private show at an undisclosed location in Hollywood, Bordeaux (http://www.bordx.com) unveiled in an intimate setting Monet Lugo’s Bordeaux Spring 2008 design collection. The mood was set beautifully with candlelit walls displayed on the outdoor patio, delicious hors d’oeuvres, 10 Cane Rum cranberry mojitos and DJ Jasepi spinning his sensuous tracks throughout the evening. The event was attended by photojournalists and celebrities of the industry from model ( Adrianne Curry, Cycle 1 Winner of America’s Next Top Model and My Fair Brady) to actress ( Bai Ling from Entourage and The Crow) and celebrity fashion stylist of the stars ( George Blodwell).
The show’s acknowledgment introduction was given by Diem Brown (MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge), a survivor of ovarian cancer, acknowledging Bordeaux owner Ardy Raminfar’s contribution to Breast Cancer Research and Head to Hollywood which is an organization devoted to brain tumor survivors and their families.
Lugo enlisted the help of some extraordinary people to help her create the “ Night At The Opera” ambiance. From wardrobe stylist and runway choreographer Sherri Hoke to makeup artist Ernesto Anaya's theatrically flawless and alluring look on each of the models as well as flowing and sensual hair designs by Helmet Salon. The highlight of the collection includes baby doll and flapper dresses, mesh tank tops in silver metallic and vibrant, eye-popping colors on select runway dresses. A “ Night At The Opera” combined a very dramatic appeal with a simplistic yet elegant apparel. The show’s effective and subtle use of the masks on each of the models didn’t take anything away from Lugo’s crafted designs, but added a dimension that needed to convey mystery and elegance. Even though the designs weren’t on a grander scale, they evoked an emotion that conveyed a timeless, sensual, hip and trendy dramatic feel. The beautiful stones and jewels beaded on the tank tops and the dresses added a more vintage look.
For each seated guests, there was a single red rose in each chair which pays homage to the encore of an opera. There was also a gift bag that included a Bordeaux S-Tank with beaded rhinestones, Bordeaux leggings, Quench Essential Lotion, OPI Nail Polish ‘Cabarnet for the Lady’, Bottle of 10 Cane Rum, $15 gift certificates to some of Los Angeles’ trendy restaurants in the shape of Cozmo Cards, a ‘Night At The Opera’ CD by DJ Jasepi and finally a CD entitled Magnolia Road by a new and noteworthy alternative rock band named Intercept (http://www.intercepttheband.com).
