On Saturday, June 2, 2012 Hollywood’s brightest stars joined Trueheart Events in hosting The Wonderland Suite to benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Over four hundred guests visited the magical world of Wonderland and enjoyed a fun filled day of activities, entertainment, fabulous gifting and delicious treats and sweets at hot spot Tru Hollywood.
Trueheart Events is proud to have hosted over one hundred deserving children and their families from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the Starlight Children’s Foundation and the Children’s Rare Disease Network. Partygoers were transported into Wonderland with magical sets by Green Set and beautiful floral design by Lily Lodge. Guests were greeted by the Queen of Hearts’ infamous red rose bushes upon arrival and directed to Wonderland’s wonderful activities by Wonderland signposts.
The children were gifted with Schoolbags for Kids’ “Learning Tree” backpack designed by New York illustrator Jacob Thomas whose illustrations have appeared in Rollingstone, the New Yorker and The New York Times. For every bag sold, Schoolbags for Kids donates a schoolbag filled with supplies to a child in need. Recording artist Cody Simpson and “Private Practice” star Griffin Gluck who plays Mason on the show, love their new Schoolbag for Kids backpacks. All of the kids filled their backpacks with fabulous gifts at the party.
“Baywatch” alum Brande Roderick drove in from San Diego with her adorable two year old son Keaton to support Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Keaton enjoyed coloring in the Plum Organics Lounge and getting some healthy and delicious Plum Organics toddler snacks to take home. “How To Rock” stars Noah Crawford and Samantha Boscarino dressed up as their favorite Wonderland characters in Pix In The Box’s Wonderland Photo Booth. Layla Kayleigh, backstage correspondent on MTV’s hit TV show, “Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew”, took a beautiful family portrait with her husband Steve and their daughter Melody Rain in the Wonderland Photo Booth by Pix in the Box.
Soccer star Cobi Jones and soap opera star Kate Linder from “The Young and the Restless” joined Children’s Hospital Los Angeles patients at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. The kids enjoyed lemon flavored FruTeas and the adults were treated to espresso, coffee and hot tea drinks. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf also gifted partygoers with gift cards good for free beverages at any of their retail locations.
Party Princess Productions worked their magic and was able to get their friends Alice, The Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts to spend the day hanging with guests at the Wonderland Suite. The trio from Wonderland serenaded TV & film star Mike Vogel’s daughter Charlee with the “Very Merry Un-Birthday” song from the film in celebration of her third birthday. Charlee and her sister Cassy enjoyed face painting and nail art courtesy of Woombie and MOD’Swad. Charlee also received a special little ninja outfit by Shinobi Baby. Babies all over the party were seen in their new Shinobi Baby organic cotton beanies with Chinese stars with hearts in the middle of them for an adorable look.
Guests enjoyed Fatburger’s delicious turkey, veggie and hamburgers and refreshing IZZE sparkling juice for lunch. TV personality Daniel Nguyen & actress Kristen Ruhlin were all smiles as they enjoyed their Fatburgers. Katie Rosario of Kt’s Kakes dazzled everyone with her incredibly creative Queen of Hearts Sweets Table which featured vegan, sugar free and gluten free cake pops and mini cupcakes in a variety of mouthwatering themed flavors such as Alice’s Sweet Surprise, a vanilla cupcake with Blue Raspberry Butter-Cream Frosting and the Queen’s Treat, a red velvet cupcake decorated with spades and clubs. Katie poured love and attention into every bite as she ensured she had sweet treats for all of the kids taking their various dietary restrictions into consideration. The Queen of Hearts Sweets Table was made complete with a gorgeous Alice in Wonderland theme cake which paid homage to every character and plot point in the beloved tale. Katie served as a baking assistant on multiple seasons of the popular TV show “Cupcake Wars”, so she was delighted to show Justin Willman, the host of the show, just how delicious her Kt’s Kakes baked goodies are.
ViaCord hosted a Children’s Accessories Lounge, which was a huge hit at the party. Carlon Jeffrey, star of Disney’s “A.N.T. Farm”, had a CHLA patient, hook him up with an armful of temporary tattoos, while hundreds of guests enjoyed feathered hair extensions and making their own beaded bracelets with the ViaCord style team. Jewelry brand Elisa Ilana gifted each patient and celebrity guest with an Awareness Jewelry Bracelet. Elisa Ilana is proud to have donated over a half a million dollars for research to the various organizations that they support through sales of their awareness jewelry. Celebrities such as Claudia Lee and Carla Renata both from the CW hit show “Hart of Dixie” enjoyed creating their own necklaces at Elisa Ilana’s Birthstone Necklace Bar.
All of the adorable babies at the party were gifted with modern and vintage baby fashions courtesy of MOD’Swad and the safest and softest baby swaddles by Woombie. MOD’Swad and Woombie creator Karen Koslov-Barski also had her husband Stash onsite to gift his super cool Sneaker Kandy to all of the kids at the party so they can personalize their kicks.
Rob Ridgeway led partygoers in a lighting round of “Spontuneous”, the hottest new award winning music board game that he created. The lucky winner got to take home a limited edition version of the game. “Mad Men” star Sam Page was excited to get his friends together to play Spontuneous.
Hollywood’s finest DJ Kid Fish kept the energy high with her awesome mix of party tunes. Cory Almeida (host of Pictureka! on Discovery Network's The Hub and FOX.com correspondent), treated guests to a rockin DJ set by his alter ego persona, DJ CoryLive. Cory had the dance-floor packed with all of the kids and celebrities grooving with Alice, the Mad Hatter and Queen of Hearts. At one point DJ CoryLive was joined in the DJ booth by a few Children’s Hospital Los Angeles patients who he let take over the decks and try their hand at spinning while “American Idol” fan favorite Casey Abrams cheered them on.
Casey Abrams spent quality time playing and talking with the patients and was overheard saying that a “happy child makes for a happy life” and that “parties like The Wonderland Suite do so much to remind kids how much they are loved.” “America’s Got Talent” Semi-Finalist Snap Boogie, flew all the way from Boston especially to support Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and he delivered an amazing dance performance where he truly left his heart on the dance-floor. As Snap Boogie popped, locked and break- danced, partygoers cheered him on and were amazed at his incredible moves. It is no wonder that Snap Boogie danced his way into the hearts of America on the show.
Daniel Joseph Baker, one of Sharon Osbourne’s favorite acts on “America’s Got Talent” last season, performed a moving and inspiring salute to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles patients with Jessie J’s hit song “Who You Are.” Daniel spoke from the heart and shared his experiences about being bullied as a child and urged the children to never give up and never stop believing in themselves.
Trevor Jackson, star of the Summer 2012 Disney film “Let It Shine” performed an incredible a capella tribute to the King of Pop with a medley of Michael Jackson’s hottest hits. He concluded his set with a beautiful rendition of Louie Armstrong’s “What A Wonderland World” which he “dedicated to all of the patients and the beautiful and remarkable world in which we live.” Clowns, a juggler, a ballerina and a ribbon dancer from Lucent Dossier Experience were on hand to spread joy and bring smiles to our Wonderland Suite guests. The Lucent Dossier Experience performers participated in all of the Wonderland festivities with guests. Their very own Ringmaster Roy enjoyed delicious and healthy Divine Dips vegan ice crème with performer Daniel Joseph Baker. Partygoers also enjoyed individual size Sabra hummus snack packs with Sun Chips which were served out of their cool cart and a favorite amongst guests. Guests also were treated to Peace Iced Tea and Hubert’s Lemonade.
Monica Balli, Italy’s wedding and event planner to the stars, came all the way from Tuscany, Italy to support Children’s Los Angeles and presented actress Rachael Leigh Cook with a seven night stay at one of her luxurious villas in the posh sea town of Forte Dei Marmi. Trueheart Events partner Amy Malin selected Rachael and her husband, actor Daniel Gillies, to receive this incredible trip because of the amazingly generous fundraising campaign that the couple coordinated for a Children’s Hospital Los Angeles patient with neuroblastoma cancer. “Having produced hundreds of charity events throughout my career over the last sixteen years, I have seen some celebrities try and utilize a charity event for their own personal gain and to get some positive press coverage after something negative happens that they would like everyone to forget about. Then there are actors like Rachael and Daniel who give selflessly from their hearts even when there are no cameras around to document their good deeds. They leverage their star power to inspire others to join them in making a difference and they do it solely because it is the right thing to do for someone in need. I admire and respect my dear friends Rachael and Daniel for all that they are doing to help shine a spotlight on the amazing work that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is doing for children in our community and I share their passion and love for this noble cause”, said Amy Malin of Trueheart Events.
Partygoers purchased raffle tickets at the event with 100% of the proceeds raised from the raffle benefitting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Raffle winners took home fabulous prizes including a handsome boy’s suit and a beautiful formal party dress from AdorableBabyClothing.com, handmade tutus and bedazzled tank tops by Bella Monet Designs, a homemade baby food gift set by Sage Spoonfuls, an incredible basket of hair accessories by Bowsie Baby Boutique, a gift basket of yummy organic treats from Plum Organics, cool bean bag chairs by fatboy USA and more!
