Beyond Christmas

Beyond Christmas

Beyond Christmas was also named one of the two official charities for 2014. Beyond Christmas is a 501c3 organization founded by BJ Kelley. Several years ago Ms. Kelley started secretly paying off lay-away’s at retail stores for complete strangers; she has now revealed herself and has a national organization that does random acts of Kindness and Spontaneous acts of Compassion for strangers. Their goal is to get one million acts of kindness and compassion done by Christmas 2014. The organization now has a way everyone can be involved by getting a Beyond Christmas Debit Card.  A percentage from every transaction goes to help the organization help others, and the cardholder receives discounts on gas and other great items.

Heifer International

Heifer International

RNSH OSCAR SUITES welcomes as one of its two charities for this year. Heifer International empowers families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity – but their approach is more than just giving a family a handout. Heifer links communities and helps brings sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty. Heifer purchases animals for families which provide both food and reliable income; agricultural products such as milk, eggs and honey can be traded or sold at market. The core of their model is passing on the Gift. This means families share the training they receive, and pass on the first female offspring of their livestock to another family. This extends the impact of the original gift, allowing a once impoverished family to become donors and full participants in improving their communities. Together with Heifer International, we can change the world, one family, one community, at a time. And it all starts with a gift.
