Mid-July provides one of the few moments of the year when the entire sports world takes a few days off, other than the participants in the Major League All-Star Game. This break provides a time to celebrate athletes and thus the ESPY Awards were created. To honor some of the 2013 ESPY Award nominees and presenters, GBK hosted their ESPY Pre-Award Gift Lounge on July 16th at the Andaz in West Hollywood.
GBK is well known for hosting some of the most luxurious gifting lounges that help to celebrate the biggest moments in sports and entertainment. The celebrities in attendance were treated to an amazing assortment of memorable gifts, music, food and they concluded the evening with a celebrity poker tournament. In addition the day benefitted a number of great charities including: the Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation, The Model Citizen Fund, the Mama Sarah Obama Foundation and The Giving Back Fund.
With the help of participating sponsors and generous celebrity guests, 100% of the poker tournament proceeds were donated to charity. Poker Professional Tim Phan won the tournament; winning a 3 night stay at the St. Regis Princeville, as well as an $8000 watch from Jason of Beverly Hills. Second place winner was Andy Milonakis, winning a Technogel Mattress. $12.000 was raised for the Model Citizen Fund, and Ike's Love and Sandwiches gave a $1.000 donation in the name of Roger Cross to the Mama Sarah Obama Foundation for coming in 4th place.
