The AVN Awards Show can not compete with the Academy Awards in terms of publicity and orchestration, but it certainly can more than hold its own in terms of fun and enthusiasm. The 2014 show was held this year on January 18 in The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
The Show is the brainchild of AVN Magazine (Adult Video News)which was founded by Paul Fishbein in 1983. Today, the magazine features reviews of the Adult Entertainment Industry’s (referred to by many as porn) new movie releases, games and toys.
The publicity says that, “The AVN Awards Show has honored the very best in adult entertainment, shining the spotlight on the talented people who create the mystique and fantasy of erotic entertaiment.” Well, those people in the business of pleasure industry turned out. And they certainly dressed for the occasion.
The Award show was hosted by Comedian Rebekah Kochan, adult film star Chanel Preston, and Wicked Pictures contract star Samantha Saint. Rebekah opened with a sexually charged comedy set and kept the patter up during her periodic appearances during the show. There was very little in her routine which we can share on a family friendly website. She interacted with Chanel and Samantha as they alternated introducing the various presenters.
There were many winners in the extensive list of categories. As with other more main stream award shows, there was a long parade of industry stars presenting the awards. Some sound quite traditional. Best cinematography, best editing, best makeup, best special effects might fit into any video award evening. However, many are not exactly what we print on a family friendly web site.
Tommy Pistol won the best actor award for his role in Evil Head, while Remy LaCroix won the best actress award for her role in The Temptation of Eve.
Man of Steel XXX won the best movie drama parody award, and Underworld won the best new drama award.
Steve Orenstein, the founder and CEO of Wicked Pictures received AVN’s visionary award for his work in the industry.
For many of the 3,500 plus attendees, the evening was just beginning with the Award Show. Parties continued through the night at such venues as Vanity, Pure, and Sapphire. This is a see and be seen evening. Rest assured that the ladies were dressed so that fans could see quite a lot of their favorite performers. Other attendees were decked out in long dresses or tuxedos.
The AVN Award Show will return to Las Vegas next year for another fun-filled night of honoring the best in the industry. As always, it marks the conclusion of four days which include the Adult Entertainment Expo, the AVN Fan Fest, and the AVN Novelty Expo (ANE).

More than 200 performers, directors, and other industry professionals walked the extensive red carpet prior to the Award show. We are featuring many of those who walked the Red Carpet. Frankly, there were so many so quickly, that we weren't able to capture all the names or images. We think we got enough to satisfy your curiosity. There will be more glimpses of the Red Carpet as time goes on.
