Mike Ruiz - world renowned photographer and director

Snapshot!!! Read my words and picture me as I snap questions to a red hot photographer, that got me posing stiff in some places. " Oops" Camera man you sure do know how to wrap your fingers and clink at the right moment!! " Now that is a perfect Picture". Reload readers time to focus your pupils and read into what this world renowned photographer/ director sees in his lens. Mike Ruiz who started his photography career at age 28 is best known for his high-impact, surreal brand of celebrity and fashion photos. He is also the leading cast member on the hit reality show The A List: New York that airs on the Logo network. Before me and Mike snap back and forth, here is some history about Photography.

Mike Ruiz

" Photography" is derived from the Greek words photos ("light") and graphing ("to draw"). Alhazen, a great authority on optics in the Middle Ages, invented the first pinhole camera,  called the Camera Obscura. Now here is the man that taught himself the intricate mechanics of the camera reflecting on his own history. The very passionate, eying for the right moment to snap Mr. Mike Ruiz.

Hello man with the vision. What is your lens focused on today?

Mike  Today I am shooting 2 things. A beauty story with renowned make-up artist Roberto Morelli and an HIV awareness campaign for the Men’s Sexual Health Project.

David
Photography which is the process, activity and art of creating still or moving pictures that are captured by you the photographer. Can you describe the feeling you get that motivates you to snapshot at the right moment?

Mike
That is such a great question that I have never been asked! There is something in my mind that tells me when the exact time is to snap the shutter. It's a combination of visual and emotional stimuli.

Ted Grant was quoted saying "When you photograph people in color you photograph their clothes.  But when you photograph people in B&W, you photograph their souls"  What are your thoughts about that?

Mike
I'm not sure I agree with that. In my opinion, capturing someones essence is possible in any medium. Personally I am much more inspired by brilliant color than I am by black and white.

David
In every picture there is always a missing person you "the Photographer" but every viewer is apart of your vision. What is the ultimate vision you want to convey for the world to see in your photos?

Mike
I want to convey hope.

David
There is a province in which photographs can tell us nothing more than what we see, however there is another in which it proves to us how little our eyes permit us to see. What inspires you to tell a story visually.

Mike
My images are inspired by my need to move out of the dark and into a place of love and light.

David
A picture can say 1000 words and never a lie, however some people photograph better than others and the camera can make you look heaver. What do you think?

Mike
There are so many variables that make a good photo of someone. Everyone is photogenic in the right circumstances. I have certainly cringed at some bad photos of me.

David
Why is perish-ability in a photograph important in a picture?

Mike
As a photographer, it is paramount to preserve images for historical purposes. The importance of perish-ability is counter intuitive to me however for arguments sake, the perish-ability of a photograph ads an intrinsic monetary value.

David
You directed a music video for one of my favorite vocalist Ms Kelly Rowland. How was she to work with?

Mike
Kelly is an absolute pleasure to work with and one of the most talented singers in the buisness. I can't wait for her new CD.

David
That makes both of us. What advice can you give anyone that is zooming into the world of photography?

Mike
Don't stop snapping!

David
What are your last words to all the readers?

Mike
Thank you for reading and always see the brighter picture. Also I want to thank you Mr. Prince of media. I love the way you write.

David
Thank you much for your time Mike. As always you are a pleasure and while you have been lambasted with fire and brimstone comments about being gay, your dominating traits for postivity and beauty make others see why they should alienate themselves from hate and bigatry. Your voice is to be heared for mentoring, teaching, coaching and healing. I wish you a picture perfect life. Now a treat for all you readers a video directed by the very sexy Mike Ruiz. No other then the lovely Ms Kelly Rowland. I told ya I was... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIMAqSiesgM
