Marine Life Park – A water-wonderland for all

Besides bringing in the integrated resorts and casinos, the hospitality and tourism industry in Singapore has something new to cheer about. In its latest bid to woo tourists and cement its place as a world-class entertainment hub, a brand new mega attraction has been unveiled in Singapore.

The month of November saw the opening of Marine Life Park, the world’s largest oceanarium which contains more than 60 million liters of water. It has been made home to more than 100,000 marine animals from across 800 different species brought together from the different continents of the world.

The oceanarium is the last of 12 major launches planned for the S$7 billion (US$5.7 billion) integrated resort, Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), since it opened in January of 2010, joining Universal Studios, a casino, the Maritime Experiential Museum and several luxury hotels and restaurants helmed by celebrity chefs.

With a goal to bring together the best of wet and dry experiences at a single oceanarium, Marine Life Park has two world-class attractions - Adventure Cove Waterpark and S.E.A. Aquarium

Adventure Cove Waterpark

This tropical paradise provides a thrilling escapade for everyone. Guests to the region’s only water park with marine life elements can zip down exhilarating waterslides and take part in immersive programmes that allows ray-feeding, interaction with bottlenose dolphins and shark encounters.

Some of the main draws to The Adventure Cove Waterpark include Riptide Rocket which features the region’s first hydro-magnetic coaster, Splashworks that provides thrill-seekers with a free-fall platform cliff jumping and Bluwater Bay that houses a giant wave pool and gives visitors a place to play, relax and frolic under the sun. In addition, the waterpark features one of the world’s longest lazy-rivers Adventure River, a 620-meter river that meanders through 14 stunning scenes of tropical jungles, canyons, gardens grotto caves and a surround aquarium.

The theme behind the waterpark’s architecture and design centers on the tale of ancient sea life civilization. The design revolves around three chapters of the Volcanic Archipelago, the Ancients, and the coming of the New Age which can be seen from the intricate designs in the carvings, symbols and mystical creatures throughout the park.

S.E.A. Aquarium

The world’s largest aquarium lets guests catch a glimpse of the marine wonders of the world with more than 800 species of wildlife to marvel at, ranging from magnificent sharks to rare species of fish in a myriad of habitats including one which presents a spectacular vista through the  planet’s largest aquarium viewing panel measuring 36 meters long and 8.3 meters high. Comprising 10 different zones with 49 habitats, the aquarium takes visitors on an underwater voyage beginning from Southeast Asia, and continues through the Arabian Gulf and the Open Ocean.

In the process of immersing in the enthralling marine world, visitors will meet amazing and magnificent creatures such as the enormous goliath grouper, Napoleon wrasse, majestic manta rays, zebra sharks and a wide and colorful variety of other ocean life. The habitat is flanked by an Ocean Dome –an all-round viewing area and the Ocean Restaurant, an outlet propagating sustainable seafood principles. Eleven Ocean Suites occupy the opposite site of the habitat, offering a twist to the proposition of sea-view by providing guests the experience of waking to an under-the-sea vista.
