One Love: Benefiting San Francisco International Hip Hop DanceFest Review - Unity Through Dance

On February 18, 2017 from 4 PM to 7 PM One Love benefiting the San Francisco International Hip Hop DanceFest (SFIHHDF) was held at Prosper Restaurant (747 Market St. 4th Floor, SF). The evening exemplified the open mindedness, unconditional acceptance, and the empowering force of San Francisco and the Hip Hop culture. Upon arrival, guests were given a warm welcome by the director of development Christina [aka: Gypsy Love], and two other staff members. In addition, once guests stepped inside the event they had an opportunity to pose for a red carpet picture to immortalize the memory.

Micaya: Founder, artistic director, and producer of the San Francisco International Hip Hop DanceFest has been unifying people for over nineteen years through the Hip Hop Dancefest.  Every year, Micaya has been grateful for the enthusiasm shown, "I'm astounded by the powerful synchronicity that shines among the artists, staff, production team, and sponsors who believe in our mission." She also expressed that the word that best describes the community is 'Family.' On behalf of the artists, staff, board, and stakeholders, Micaya said, "We thank you, and wish all a fantastic evening!"

The event was decadently dressed with sequined royal blue table cloths and red and white roses atop each table. The silent auction table was decorated in gold with an array of items to be bid upon, and the raffle tickets for the benefit drawing ranged from one dollar each, six for five dollars, or fifteen for ten dollars.  The evening hor d'oeuvres, desserts, and wine were  provided by Prosper Restaurant.

Before the live performance and award ceremony, guests embraced the opportunity for pictures that were captured by David Wong and his staff.  All the event images were immediately posted and could be viewed at DVpix.  Wong and his staff expressed how they enjoyed working with the event and capturing the moments for the guests. Additionally, the air was filled by Michael Cerchiai, Owner and DJ of House Of Pride Music.

Margo Aparicio, who attended the SFIHHDF for the first time years ago and expected one thing but was pleasantly surprised, now volunteers for the event. Aparicio offered this quote regarding her experience at SFIHHDF, "It was brilliant!  The music was diverse, the volume at a listenable level, the performers polite, and the performances mesmerizing.  Dancers from France, Vietnam, England, the Netherlands, and the United States held the audience captive with their amazing showmanship. The audience was quiet and respectful, and consisted of very young children to very old white-haired patrons in wheelchairs and walkers!  I am totally hooked on The San Francisco International Hip Hop DanceFest!"
