I had the pleasure of attending the Summer Concert Series with Iconic 80's rock band Missing Persons who performed under the stars. Throughout the summer, legendary musical greats take center stage to help support a charitable cause. The annual Summer event is produced by Golden Crown Productions, a local company that matches up Rock N' Roll musical events with an assortment of charities.
The evening started with the musical stylings of composer and musician, Sebastian Sidi. Sebastian specializes in piano and keyboards and whose sound can be described as classical, new age rock with a Latin flavor. Sebastian played a myriad of songs, and entertained patrons during dinner. Then Missing Persons came out and lit up the night. Dale Bozzio still has it, and belted out their classic tunes like, "Windows" and "Mental Hopskotch" like it was yesterday.
The band rocked the crowd through the night and reminded everyone why they sold so many records. Every song is a hit. Other fan favorites included "Destination Unknown" and "Surrender Your Heart". But the big finale of the show was when Dale Bozzio launched into her rendition of their hit tune, "Walking in LA" with the entire audience dancing and signing along.
Missing Persons music is a blend of New Wave and Pop Rock. The band was formed in 1980 in Los Angeles by guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, vocalst Dale Bozzio, and drummer Terry Bozzio. They then added bassist Patrick O'Hearn and keyboardist Chuck Wild. Missing Persons music videos were always a hit with MTV, which at the time was a fledgling cable TV channel.
The outdoor concert area is divided into two parts, the general seating area on the patio and the VIP section in front of the stage. The banquet tables are dressed with linen tablecloths, china and glassware, while waiters pamper you with personalized service as you dine on the manicured grounds. It's like fine dining in a park, while watching a concert. And then, the wine starts pouring, the sun goes down and the real fun begins.
Catering for the event was prepared by The Forge. The menu consisted of a choice of New York Steak or Airlined Chicken Breast smothered in a Tomato d' Provance. Both were served with Mixed Greens tossed in a Herbed Basil Vinaigrette with Shredded Romano and Grape Tomatoes. To finish it off, there was Orange Scented Bread Pudding with Bourbon Vanilla Sauce. Wine was of course the drink of the evening and there was plenty to pour.
Previous Concerts include such legendary performers as Ambrosia (Holdin', Nice, Nice, Very Nice), Berlin with Terri Nunn (The Metro, Take My Breath Away the hit single from the Top Gun film), Tom Waits (Jersey Girl, Downtown Train), The English Beat with (Mirror in the Bathroom, To Nice To Talk To, Hands Off She's Mine), and Tommy Tutone (867-5309, Angel Say No) to name a few.
