Workhouse offered a five song sampler CD for Eric Solomon, a Jazz blend solo artist from Congo, Africa, who gathers his lyrics from contemporary issues and blends them with a uniquely urban twist. He adds the world music flavor and beat with a variety of instruments and scanting background vocals. The lyrics are interesting and, although they leave little to the imagination, hide behind a good beat, jazzy background vocals and accompaniment.

Echoing an early Prince feel, the falsetto sound and the provocative lyrics of I’m A Dirty Man blazed with heat reminiscent of Alphabet Street or early edgy sounds. The introduction of bi-sexual rapper Erica D adds flames to the already hot lyrics. It is a catchy tune with sizzling lyrics and background vocals that draw you in forcing you to listen to get the full effect of the mix. It is a great dance tune and will certainly warm you up on those cold winter evenings.

The follow-up release should be the third mix, Wasted So Much Time. A ballad of lost love that captures the listener with the lyrics and mix. Besides the fact that everyone loves when men compose lyrics from their heart (we finally get a glimpse of what they are thinking) and Eric Solomon does that and has artistically captured the feelings of loss described by, If I could give you just one more try, turn the wheels that turn back time. Lyrics that move from trying to believe there is still something to salvage to realizing that this relationship is really unrecognizable.

Every song in the five set sampler offers insight, a great beat, backgrounds and a promising future. It is easy to see Eric Solomon moving to Geffen or some hot label.
