TANGLED, the animated adaptation of the children’s classic RAPUNZEL was the second feature of the evening. Tangled, features the voice talent of Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Flynn Ryder. The adaptation follows closely the classic children’s tale and was presented in various stages of completion. The presentation allowed the audience to marvel, once again, at the mastery of the Disney animation team.

The premise of the TRON:LEGACY story dates back to 1982 when a young computer genius, Kevin Flynn, reprised in TRON:LEGACY by newly knighted Oscar winner Jeff Bridges, vanishes and for twenty-seven years his disappearance remains a mystery to all and like all those who’s loved ones vanish without a trace, those who loved him most, Sam, his son portrayed by Garrett Hedlund and his business partner, Alan Bradley, reprised by Bruce Boxleitner, kept silent vigils each hoping one day he would return.

TRON:LEGACY is a combination of live and computer generated action with the opening sequences fast forwarding to a contemporary, albeit futuristic, city with only the shattered memories of the disappearance of Kevin Flynn still bonding the two lost lonely souls together in hope. Then, one evening a mysterious signal is received on Bradley’s pager which sets Sam on a journey to discover the source of the signal and possibly find his father.

The footage highlights the amazing CG (computer generated) effects used in the industry. The CG effects, supervised by Academy Award winner, Eric Barba pits original TRON star, Jeff Bridges against an identical younger, diabolical, version of himself, Clu, in TRON: LEGACY and is creating quite a buzz among dedicated TRON fans and ushering in a new generation of TRON loyalists.

The TRON: LEGACY design teams credit first time director Joseph Kosinski as their inspiration behind the dedication and effort in the creation of the futuristic gaming world complete with sci-fi costumes, lead by designer Christine Bieselin Clark, that mandated comfort, fit, and needed to incorporate freedom of movement. Clark also assisted in creating action set designs that are truly a grid like replica of a computer circuit board.  Automotive designer Daniel Simon, the former lead designer for European Automotive giant Bugatti, created the sleekest racing motorcycles and sport racers that rival anything on the market also credited Kosinski as his inspiration. The design teams worked diligently and the end product is a testament to their efforts and are simply fabulous to view and amazing in scope.
