I recently had the opportunity to attend the 10th Annual TIMMY awards in New York City.  A potpourri of celebrities, artists, poets, independent filmmakers, writers and significant emerging talent all gathered at the awards hosted by the Original "Cowboy" from the Village People Mr. Randy Jones and Howard Thompson from CW 11 News at Ten.  The awards are a chance for New York City to honor those artists on their way to making a name for themselves in all areas of the art and entertainment industry.

The awards given out included: Best Photographer, Model, Fashion Designer, Actor, Comedian, Writer, Poet, Singer, Band, and Artist.

The award show is packed with entertainment with a number of live performances by: Shimmerplanet, The Metropolitan Repertory Ballet, Erin Jividen, Danny Nova, and the Kin.  One of the highlights was a fashion show by urban designer Gianni Lauren who, I had interviewed her earlier, showed off her latest creations of hand painted couture.

Important highlights of the Awards Ceremony included Famous Celebrity Photographer Stephanie Parker who won for Most Valuable Supporter. Socialite Stephanie Parker has earned her award for her contributions to Talent In Motion Magazine and by the significant images she has collected in her enormous database of celebrities, political figures, fashion and art.

The TIMMY awards were held in the Arena; the newest hot spot in NYC located on Manhattan's 41st street.  The Arena is a huge, multi-level constructed, stage and dance club.  Look up, and its large circular ceiling with multi-colored domed chandelier will remind you of the mother ship form the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind!  I wouldn't be surprised to find some party loving ET's in the club right now enjoying the activities! 

Hillary Flowers is presented Best Designer Award

Famous fashion designer Alfredo Versaci and Ballet Dancer Lenora Volpe presented the award to Best Designer Hillary Flowers. Ms. Flowers signature collection is famous for its unique one of a kind creative designs with the emphasis on individualism. Her divine fashions can be found in New York City, Los Angeles and South Hampton's trendy boutiques.

The prestigious 'Lifetime Achievement Award' was presented to Soprano Star Vincent Vella for his outstanding accomplishments acting in such films as 'Analyze That' and Martin Scorcese's "Casino" with Robert DiNiro and Joe Pesci.

At the end of the ceremonies, the attendees partied until the sun came up and  the artists where still displaying their latest ideas with more live stage performances. Human bodies were also use as a art medium, dressed up and positioned in elaborate formations on the forward stage.  It was Studio 54 meets Metropolis as the 1927 Fritz Lang Sci-Fi classic shown on the walls of the enormous Arena as the Village People came through the giant speakers of the club!

It was a great time had by all, and I for one can't wait to see what next year has in store!
