Supermodel Christie Brinkley Celebrates Hamptons Magazine Cover

Supermodel Christie Brinkley shines on Hamptons Magazine's Memorial Day cover and stepped out in the sun on Saturday, May 26, 2007 to celebrate at the 7th annual Memorial Day party at Niche Media CEO Jason Binn and wife Haley Binn's home in Southampton. I was a recent guest in the home of Cass Almendral (of and who also promoted a Hillary Flowers fashion show in the Hamptons that weekend) who attended the event and he explained to me it was the party to be at to kick off the 2007 summer season.

Christie still the Supermodel!

The Hamptons are well known for being a playground for the rich and are frequented by residents of New York City particularly during the summer months for weekend getaways. This has given rise to the phrases "house in the Hamptons" or "Hamptons summer share."

It is the Hamptons, in case you were interested, that National Geographic voted as having the country's most beautiful villages. This is where many a celebrity owns a summer home and it is where Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was born. Her birthplace is named "Grey Gardens", a twenty eight room estate that has been the subject of several feature films.

Besides Christie, other celebrities having property in the Hamptons included Steven Spielberg, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Sarah Jessica Parker, Renee Zellweger, Caroline Kennedy, P. Diddy, Alec Baldwin, Jerry Seinfeld and Martha Stewart. The late Peter Jennings had a home here and I heard that Kelly Ripa just purchased a property in the area.

A legendary Hamptons local, Christie Brinkley stepped out on the town to
celebrate her newest magazine cover and to enjoy the Memorial Day festivities. The blonde beauty looked stunning and relaxed, enjoying the casual atmosphere while chatting with guests including Russell Simmons, Beth Ostrosky, James Lipton, Desperate Housewives' Kyle McLaughlin, Doug Wilson from Trading Spaces, and Carson Kressley from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, among others.

Even former American Idol contestant Sarah Mather stopped by to perform a song for the adoring crowd. Besides the American Idol performance, other perks of the party included a face painter, folk singer and a Mr. Softee truck for the kids (and adults!). The supermodel herself even moseyed over to the truck to pick up a vanilla cone for dessert on her way out.

Christie Brinkley speaks to the crowd

Christie has had very trying time recently, if you watch the news you know this fact, but Christie is a New Yorker, fighter, and still one of the most beautiful models in the world to every grace the cover of a magazine.  It is fitting that the Hamptons would honor her with a cover during our most American of Holidays.  Christie is still that all American, uptown, cover girl we all love and, in the Hamptons, she is as easy, breeze, and beautiful as ever!
