The
Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance is dedicated to find a cure for
Tuberous Sclerosis and also helping and improving the life of those affected. Currently, the cause of
TSC is unknown and there is no cure for the genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in many different organs, primarily in the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin and lungs. An estimated 1 in 6,000 live births have
TSC. This is approximately 50,000 people in the US and more than 1 million worldwide. Often, it is first seen in children who have two neurological symptoms – epileptic seizures and/or a range of mental handicaps, although it may develop later in life.
